SONY C-800G

Did a session at Cleveland based Commercial Recording yesterday for a regional 30tv spot. WOW! What a facility!

Used a Sony C-800G condenser to a Drawmer 1960 tube pre-amp - No compression (was to be added later). Tell you what. That mic sounded HUGE without compression.

Mixing board was a Fairlight. That thing looked like it came off the bridge of Star Trek ;D

mic is a GRAND cheaper at soundpure.com.Sweetwater is a tad too high.It's a great mic,been used on tons of hit records.

The C 800 G Was used in the RAP Song "In da CLUB" From 50 Cents. Neve 1073 Preamp / AVALON VT 737 SP WITH NO EQ !!!!!!!

I saw Allison Krauss use a Sony 800..sounded good but not really overly WOW! For over 6 thousand bucks it ought to do a little more than just come with the following:

# Shock-mount adapter
# Carrying Case
# Foam windscreen
# Screwdriver
# Instruction manual

That must be some really nice screwdriver!

Make no mistake it DOES sound nice, but it is mostly the outboard gear that it plays with that gives it a sound. It is mostly just a good mic, but that's all..just good.
