Sony MDR-7506 headphones - Great - but...

We use nothing but the Sony MDR-7506 headphones at our station. They are the standard at many stations. However they become ragged in appearance after a short time. I'm sure those who have used them will know what I'm talking about. Any suggestions on a company selling replacement pads? Seems like it would be worth the effort since the headphones run around $100.
 
Thanks for the info. I love this board. I get excited when I see someone wearing Sony MDR-7506 headphones on television - on a movie set or in a recording studio. It is reassuring to us that we have so pretty good headphones. They run about $100 each and are well worth it. I know a lot of you radio guys can relate to what I'm saying. I noticed Z-100 in New York uses them. They had customized them with their Z-100 logo. ;D
 
When you buy your next pair, observe that the box contains a very detailed exploded diagram of presumably replaceable parts. Unfortunately, besides the ear pads, the most common problem area is a break in the tiny wires that are "snaked" up through the headband area, a frustration in that at that point it appears cheaper to replace the entire 7506 than expend the labor to repair it, unless someone has come up with an easy fix he or she would care to share here.

That's why I I love the AKG's K-240 (besides the sound and the comfortableness). They have a wire frame, which makes them both light, flexible, practically indestructible (even when a DJ throws them on the desk) but which also serves as a conductor to the other driver. No wire necessary, no problems! They are by far the most robust and reliable headphones I've worked with.

I wear a pair of Bose 'Around-Ear Headphones'.
They are extremely cheaply made, but the sound quality is like nothing I've ever heard before. The base is so low and clean in makes my brain turn to mush. The highs and mids are equally as sharp and clean. Headphones I would have never believed existed if I didn't have a pair.
I just have to treat them like they are made of glass.
No, glass is more durable......
