The Sony SRF-59 is a great little radio for AM/MW DX’ing, I have two of them. Also the Sony ICF- P26 is my second favorite for AM/MW DX’ing the FM on both radios not that great. The ICF-P26 lacks a lot on the FM side, but I do love both for AM/MW reception. Does anyone else own either of these radio and what do you think about them?

I have the Sony ICF-P26 and I love it on AM, The Volume Control is staticky, So I need contact cleaner on it

I don't have the Sony SRF-59 sadly..I love Analog Radios

I have both. The SRF-59 is famous as a DXer. Add a loop and it probably rivals a Superadio or that hyped up 70's machine, the Panasonic RF2200. The Sony P-26 is a good radio because the chip inside has a hefty AM RF amp. I use it around the house sometimes when listening to talk or football games. It will work with a loop, but sometimes you have to back the loop away a bit to aid selectivity.

An aside: If you have an SRF-59, tune slowly, as it may lenghten the life of the tuner cap. Some guys have said theirs have gone bad over time. I know a lot of times we tend to tune rapidly from one end of the dial to the other to seek DX. So far my SRF-59's tuner is like new -- but then, I don't use it daily.

I have minor issues with the volume on one of the 59‘s but it’s about 15 years old. The 26 is newer and is great for the AM and as Mario has said, I as well love my analog radios. I hope analog lives as long as my lifetime.
