Sony Walkman AM antenna?

I have a sony walkman the model is SRF-M37V and can't figure out what is going on with the AM reception. I have looked at the ferrite antenna bar. it does not look like any damage is done or the bar its self broken . It's real difficult to get to the connections where it connects to the radio board due to the set up with where the battery compartment is. Any suggestions ? If I need to replace the AM bar antenna, how would I go about doing that. All the other bands come in great. I live in the Dallas Metroplex market and can only pick up KLIF 570, KSKY 660, WBAP 820 and KRLD 1080. Again any suggestions or tips are greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

As I said in another forum....replace it with a much more capable SRF M85V. I have the 37 and the SRFM80V which is the earlier model. The almost $50 you spend will amaze you how much better the AM is on this unit.

It may not be the antenna. I've had Sony Walkman's lose AM sensitivity for other circuitry related reasons. They're not easily salvageable when that happens.

I purchased a Sony SRF M85V and it has absolutely the WORST selectivity of ANY radio I have ever had. Today, I was in Dana Point, CA trying to listen to KSPN 710, Los Angeles. I clearly heard XETRA 690, Rosarito, Baja California in the background. XETRA was loud enough to make portions of KSPN's broadcast unintelligible. This is simply unacceptable. I have used several other Walkman-type radios in the same area and never experienced selectivity that was this poor. I have a Panosonic RF-SW70 that performs much better. Sensitivity is good and selectivity is good to excellent.

I would like to see radio manufactures develop a omni directional AM antenna for Walkman-type radios and spend more than $4 on the AM development!
