Hal Jay from WBAP. Its a given with the elimination of Sam from Sales, Willie Landem, Mystic Chuck,and all the others that made you smile, or laugh,and I admit some were corny. the stable has been taken down by Tyler . No longer will the show that has lasted for over two decades and been a ratings winner have its support system. Its a way to "politely" show Hal the door by eliminating some of his trademarks on he air. Make him uncomfortable, not wanting to put forth an effort ,influence him to sound terrible so the listeners will go away,then replace him with a morning syndicated talk show. Think not? Oh they will hire an "interim " host ,and when listeners make comparisions, that new host whoever they may be will be gone in a blink. (Remember Chris Jackson?) Tyler WAS a radio guy who stuck up for his on air staff, as long as they did their best and did as they were told. He stood toe to toe with management for them. That was a good memory,for his toe to toe is in line with Citadel.

Terry Dorsey with promotions lacking ,except some on air mentions ,and support team fading is another one being politely shown the door in the months to come and most likely KSCS will have the syndicated /satellite radio show coming its way. Hawkeye may finish that book soon and actually get it publish. Good luck Mark! The news is slowly going down a dried creek bed. Lance is gone , Bob is gone,more to follow as Citadel loves to use shears with no direction. WBAP HAD a quality news department,now its a shadow of itself and a tax write off to be. Lastily Terry and Hal are in that terrible 50+ age bracket..Lord forbid anyone that age should be on the air, thats too much talent, and talent is not what the stations ..uh.. "products" are all about. Not to mention both have Heart issues so that nasty insurance thing will be a savings once they are gone.

This started before the economy tanked, the corporate decisions are only fueling it and making it worse. So roll tape now on these two broadcast legends while you can, they may be gone quicker than what I said.

Ok...let me be the first one to ask the obvious question to Thunder. Where oh where are you getting your information? Do you work for either station? Do you work for Citadel in general? Or are you just someone who listens to both shows and "wishes" they sounded exactly like they did 10 years ago? Do you know why the bits were eliminated? I don't.....but like you....I agree they were corny and stale most days. Honestly....it seems to me I hear MORE Hal and he seems like he's having more fun without the bits. And a syndicated morning show? Now I don't listen all the time....nor chart every second of the show....but they play a lot of commercials with Hal....and I don't know ANY radio station that can afford to lose revenue by going syndicated in the morning.

As for Dorsy....I don't like country and don't listen....so you might be 100% right on that. ;D
 
I agree you cant just put you crazy hair brained theories out there with out even saying you have a source. Every thing that I hear from people that are at bap is that citadel is going to do whatever it takes to keep Hal, Mark and the overnights guys there because they are basically supporting the whole company and they know that if they put syndicate in the advertising dollars will dry up. Please do not post useless crap just because they are not doing things the exact way you want them to be done. Oh and they all love Tyler as their boss, where in the world did you get this idea that he is some kind of tyrant? All the guys up there that I talk to you contradict every word of what you said.

So your job at WBAP is.......? (3 of 4 of the only posts you've made on this board have been to dispel WBAP rumors, so it stands to reason that...)

I could suggest a couple of theories, but...I won't. But a good argument could be made for every theory in this entire thread, pro or con. Perhaps in a few months, we can all check our scorecards and see who was right and wrong. I know where my bets are placed.

My only concern is that good people aren't hurt or steamrolled in some impulsive, quick-fix move. Citadel's problems didn't happen overnight, and they won't be solved overnight, either.
 
no I dont work at WBAP, I just love the station and have a lot friends who work there, and it gets old listening to people make up all these stupid rumors just because they dont like the way the host of their fav show is doing it now, people have to change thier shows or else it gets old, I think this about the 5th or 6th post from "different" people with this same topic, "oh they want hal jay gone, they hate hal, hal show is shackled and its not really hal" and each one has made some prediction that hal would be gone by some point yet he is still there he is still pulling in the numbers and he is still bringing in the money, so yea I will defend my fav staions when people are making stuff up just to get attention
 
Being a fan of the station of the station is good. Listening to staff workers dispel "rumors" and taking their word for it completely,means they are covering their own posteriors,and need someone to post their thoughts for fear of being caught. Yeah that sounds funny too,but you should know the managment ,not talentonly players involved,they sound funny to denying the inevitable abouton going discussions. The change wont occur immediately and most likely before January. Soon after..well to quote an oldcolumunist earl Wilson .."You've heard it hear first". Citadel will do what it takes to show a profit,and like other broadcast entities that have decimated the system they will use an old method..cuts and cut salaries.
 
at least I have talked to someone, and yes I do know management and no the "talent" does not hate the management there, several people have you for a source and you don't have one, my guess is you are a former employee who got the axe and cant deal with it, grow up and stop posting this crap

First off, punctuation is your friend. Second, the only people that truley know what is goin to happen are the mgmt players over at WBAP.
