SOOOO...GOOD QUESTION...WHAT DOES YOUR FAVE DJ HAVE?

I just happened to see this on the fly on a Boston page which I have never looked at before. But it grabbed my attention. So instead of Boston, insert San Diego. What is "it" about your favorite dj's and if you'd like to take a step further, who and what do they possess that sets them apart in your mind?

" A question for Boston Radio listeners, what type of "personality" did, does your favorite DJ have? What makes/ made them your "favorite"?
Is it humor, factual knowledge, voice? music that they play/played?
Please share your thoughts"

Considering that there are only about 6 live djs in San Diego (considering that talk show hosts are NOT djs). Coe Lewis is my favorite dj, and she knows classic rock better than any man, she has a great voice, a sparkling personality, and you can tell that she genuinly loves with all her heart the world of radio. I could listen to her all the time! Plus she doesnt need to cus or talk nasty shes just a pure dj!

I believe the only station in SD that is live 24/7 is KSDS Jazz 88.3. I listen to them all the time and as a jazz fan, it's great to hear a live jock on the air day and night.

Yep, KOGO hands down ..Coe is in a league of her own. Exudes all the love, passion, warmth and knowledge and no one can hold a candle. Gene Knight, incredibly good on the air, and KYXY made a huge mistake. He understands his listeners extremely well. Robin Roth is awesome and IS 91x. Hillary as well. She is natural and good. Dave R used to be good but lost me long ago because he became way to in love with himself and a mean ol' buzzard on air. Xavier is a great dj and is a huge asset to Magic. He just loves to be on the radio and you feel it. I really connect with these djs, and not to mention Shotgun...nuff said

Gene Knight, Shotgun Tom, Xavier, and Coe are all in a league of their own. It breaks my heart that Greener is out of work, and that Xavier is being wasted on middays. Even when I worked at competing stations I would listen to Xavier in the afternoons. Magic plays the same 100 songs over and over, but Xavier the X man made it entertaining, and he was out in the community constantly making a difference, Just like Coe does.

I was fortunate to be around when Lee Baby Sims was on the air. He'd keep you in suspense with his stories. Now with online streams, I can listen to the Bob Rivers Show from Seattle or Geoff Lloyd's Hometime Show from London. I like live personalities who are entertaining. I prefer a rock leaning eclectic mix of current and classic music. The bad thing now is that same obnoxious commercials on TV pretty much trump the DJ's on the radio who are not given enough time to use their talents, save for on the morning drive.

Is KSON live all day and evenings? and KIFM Does Lee Mirabal still work there? I just can't listen to regular radio anymore. Also 96.1 came in clear from El Cajon to Mission Hills. my 10 year old nephew loves that station. No commercials that I know of on 96.1. and I think KBZT Is live all day. isn't that more than 6 Dj's counting KPRI Which I think is live? I just channel surf while driving when K- earth is playing 15 minutes of commercials. And KKSM 1320 is live all day if you are in Oceanside. I Almost forgot KYXY Is live All day.

I miss local talk shows like Bill Gordon, Fred Lewis, Clark Anthony, Lawrence Gross. Phil Flowers I still Q in my car. And the comment on Lee Simms 8) I really miss his shows on KCBQ. He did tell stories, not like the others who just read scripts. They were all very good in the 60's 70's 80's

With the departure of Gene Knight in December, KyXy is no longer live all day! The only, the one and only live station in San Diego proper that is English speaking is KSDS Jazz 88.3! And it is for the most part (other than underwriting and beg-a-thons) commercial free.
