Sorry, O&A: Bonaduce Tapped For 'YSP Morning Gig

This from Dan Gross in the Daily News:
http://www.philly.com/dailynews/col...02_Dan_Gross__Bonaduce_heading_for_WYSP_.html

I guess this move would make sense, in that Bonaduce himself was well-known to Philadelphians during many of the years from which the playlist is based on. (Even though the music he played on Eagle 106 was on a much different wavelength.)

Direct quote from Danny Partridge himself:
"If I were asked to move back to my hometown and work and a deal was cut, I would do it in a heartbeat."

Gross said that Bonaduce was "among a small group" of names considered for the WYSP morning show. Since Bonaduce currently hosts a one-hour talk show on sister station 97.1 Free-FM in L.A. - yes, there still is one station with the "Free-FM" name after all these years - it would be easier to choose him for the 'YSP gig. Plus, as you read above, he would move back to Philly "in a heartbeat".

good gracious, i hope not. his voice is soooo grating, though i'm sure he would jump at the gig in a "heartbeat," since he's got absolutely nothing else going on except for three workouts and ten packs of cigarettes a day. Lario sounds great in the morning with NO schtick or schlock or stupidity. if it ain't broke ....

here's to hoping this rumor is just like the O&A rumor and all the other talk that never comes to pass. i mean, neither dan gross or anybody else called the YSP format change, and a D-list celebrity who used to do radio passing through town doesn't necessarily mean anything just because a reporter thought to ask him the question.

Nothing like a cracked out sterioid injecting mad man to do a morning show. Put a countdown on how long this will last.

when there is smoke there's fire....

Seems like YSP went and found the only guy in the entire entertainment industry who is more washed up than Diamond David Lee Roth...... WYSP could not have mapped out a better way to destroy heritage call letters in the wake of Stern leaving. Its comical by now... Preston and Steve have a local stronghold in this market that encompasses a wide variety of demographic profiles(looks good on paper) both listeners and advertisers agree MMR kills local events, trust me, go to one. Philly listeners will not be swayed, simply because there is no brand loyalty towards WYSP (should have stuck with talk)... Why gamble what little audience you have on Hollywood sleeze? The public perception of this guy does not have mass appeal.... Very few people who want to hear a trainwreck, they will move on.....
Hey CBS why not build your brand the hard way and quit it with this fly by night wanna-be clown show crap, your TSL is going to tank while MMR pumps out consistent quarter hour ratings. Here's a secret... the radio war is won on the streets, do you think bonadouchie is gonna do a carwash appearance and mingle with clients and customers? Preston and steve will be clinking bottles at bennigans with them before their daily bank drop. The new CBS consultant needs to get with the program. Local works fellas.

so all and all.... i might have to give it a listen.... 8)

Another former employee serving up his tarnished two cents imho.... Where's the facts, inside info mention, links etc. etc.... Do you really think Danny B. would give up the unlimited Tranny's and screwballs to beat-up for a morning show gig that he might have to actually work at...i think not... ;D

Who in the world sits in the the conference room and goes "This is going to be a great idea!" It is like we have a bunch of President Bush's running the radio industry.

WYSP. Save your money. You're going to end up wasting so much cash on someone who doesn't have a proven track record. No one is going to say "Danny Banaduce is on YSP, I've gotta tune in!" No one cares.

You would in turn waste all that money, and then have to pick up either a syndicated morning show, the always winning MORE MUSIC MORNINGS, or the switch will be flipped.

David Lee Roth = Whoopi = Banaduce

I think they're gonna do some research and realize he should not be on their short list. (Unless these images of him on the Internet are authentic, in which case a "short" list is definitely the right place for him.)

I think Danny Bonaduce was a good choice for nights on Eagle 106 back in the day because of the daypart and the demo...and because it was back in the day. Times are different now. No one cares about him and those who do probably have no idea he's a "local boy." He's widely known as a has-been. (The last place I saw him was in some banner ad on the Internet. I don't even remember what the ad was for but it made me feel embarrassed for him.) IMO, there is no way he's going to draw enough of an audience to be successful for WYSP.

Is this a "celebrity with a show" type deal, or does he actually have radio chops? Anyone actually heard him on the air?

WYSP had banners and a van outside Ruth's Chris this morning on Broad Street. Anyone know why?
