Sorting out an RCA BTF-20E1 modification

This photo explains why you have one hand on the fire extinguisher when tuning an RCA. RCA= Really Cranky Apparatus. Was that rig Cheech or was it Chong? ;D

Maintained 2 of these. In a climate controlled environment and only used as a backup. I have heard way too many stories of these shooting fire and had transmitter logs to prove it. I liked the earlier version in the RCA family better as it had less problems. This was the SX-1 of it's time. If anyone needs parts I have meters, tube sockets, buttons, and a host of caps, switches, and other odds and ends. Make an offer on the lot. Parts were for the 5kw version but are compatible with the 20 in some cases.

Fact is, your site I wish to visit before I retire. Especially as you have all your older transmitters and a cool Blaw-Knox tower. And WLW history galore. No station I have engineered for offers me that thrill and history.

Sadly I have not heard of any site tours in recent years. I worked at the place when Michaels would fire up the leftovers of the big rig (500kw). Many times during the Dayton Hamvention the place would open up for tours for Hamsters.
