SOUL 106.3....WHAT ARE THEY DOING?

What kind of spotload do they have? They would have to be really stupid to NOT make money with what they have.

Dumping people, even ones who don't earn much, just bring more to the bottom line.

From what I remember, a "1" share in Chicago was worth about $8 mil in revenue. I'm doubt that WSRB is paying anywhere near $ 1 mil for their on air talent. So...are they making a profit ? I'm sure they are !

It cost lotsa money in rent to have an antenna on the Hancock or Sears...and that eats up the profit. So a "1" share from a stick in Lansing, IL is a real money maker.

If you have several "1" shares together, a commercial share is worth about $8 million. But most goes disproportionally to the big-share stations, and the low ones get vey little. This one bills just over $2 million a year, gross. Deduct sales costs, legal, utilities, insurance, payroll, licences, technical, and it probaby makes very little... a few hundred thousand.

I'd like a couple hundred thousand a year...wouldn't you?

Not if I had to invest $15 million to make it. I'd rather buy tax free bonds and watch DVDs all day.

Don Crawford paid just south of $15 million for this (1997). Generally, an investment of this kind should yield income commensurate with the risk. If you can get 8% to 10% from things like oild trusts, RITS's, junk bonds and such, the $15 million should yield about $1.7 to $2.0 million in pre-tax pofits a year to be a good investment.

$15 million in the money market would product $600 thousand a year.

So this is a bad investment, with the gross income less than the NET should be. Of course, this is an owner-operator and he can do whatever he likes... but I suspect that Crawford sees the yield on this invetment to be poor.

Well I understand bottom line thing....

I can understanding them dumping Mel Devonne, but Dumping the mixes was not a smart move. Soul was kicking butt on the street buzz with the mixes. It was really worth listening to in comparison to V103. The 6 oclock mix was a bit of a mismatch but at 12:00 it was best thing going since WBMX.

I have been told that the Steve Harvey deal he paid about a million for. I know that when you hear Harvey and Baisden, they are also getting national inventory in addition to being paid handsomely. I say they are in the hole and don't have a clue where they are going.

They should dump Harvey...They dont have the revenue to support the show....They should also get Fiona back and dump Jim Raggs.....and Hire a new mixer.....

I'm pretty positive 106.3 isn't moving or increasing power. It's quite stuck. In fact, it's been stuck since the 1980's.
