I would like to see them flip format's. DJ do you remember the format that Crawford was running on 102.3 a few years back?
102 THE GROOVE all seventies and eighties ranging from Tina Turner to Rob Base, the music we used to hear on B96 and GCI somewhat
similar to 103.5 THE BEAT. I would like to see a format like that or similar to the all dusties format 1390 played before flipping to gospel.
I think they could reach a whole new audience and keep some of the other listeners by default(due to the fact there is no other station
that plays the music they really want so they listen to V or SOUL just because it is the closest to the format they would like). I say that
because my Mom is 65 and she now listens to WNUA 95.5 not because it is her favorite station but the only station that plays any music
she likes. I think there are a lot of people that settle for a radio station not because it's their favorite but because there is nothing else on
the radio that they really like. Just a quick sidenote Crawford also owns 106.3 and 92.3.

CRAWFORD SHOULD FLIP TO A CHURBANA FORMAT I THINK THE MARKET & LISTENERS ARE READY FOR IT.
ONE STATION GOING AFTER THE "AFRICANAMERICAN, ANGLO & LATINO" LISTENERS
HEY THEY CAN TAG IT PARTY 106.3 WITH A TOUCH OF FREESTYLE IN THE FORMAT & A LUNCH LIKE BMX
WHAT DO U GUYS THINK
*****FREEBIE HERE***********

I like the idea of bringing back Dusties Radio. The name, and sound, is synonomous with Chicago.

I dont think CHR Urban would work up against B-96, GCI, and Power 92..... Maybe a Rhythmic AC, Jammin Oldies, or god forbid a Dance Format like Energy. :p

Why didnt Crawford move the Soul format and Steve Harvey over to the 92.3 Frquencey?? They would have been able to Compete with V-103 and Tom Joyner. They were stupid to let CC snatch Harvey over to GCI.

The Urban on 92.3 for one sounds way to Ghetto and have been ruggish from what i hear. Power can't win because of GCI and BBM and also KSC with their Churban format.

Crawford should have kept Steve Harvey and put on their 92.3 stick and then maybe flipped 106.3 to either dance or Sports

Just a thought

106.3 couldnt afford Harvey...They let go some decent talent to keep harvey on board.....When they let go of Fiona Verde and DJ Steve "Miggedy" Maestro, was the beginning of the end at Soul......

102 the Groove was the best format they ever had.....When they went to the "over mellow" steppers format that was the 1st death wish .....The momentum from groove format gave them a 3 share....when they dropped that it was a bad sign....

Baisden gave Soul a shot in the arm...but with Doug Banks Back there is no hope...If Doug acknowleges his WBMX roots on air via music & mixes, its a wrap...Soul & any other station competing against Doug can Kiss it good bye.......

You are absoultely incorrect - the groove format never had a 3 share - in fact i don't recall it ever showing up in the ratings. Plus, add the fact that "the groove" named is trademarked and they had to drop it. Soul 106.3 can be fixed. Due to signal strength it will never be a major threat; but, it can become profitable.

From what I remember, The Groove was on 102.3, and that signal was too far south from Chicago to even register in the Arbitron books. Rejoice 102 barely shows up now for the the same reason, too far south. That signal maybe heard in portions of Lake County Indiana and the nearby south suburbs, but that's even more signal challenged than 106.3 is. If it weren't for 105.9 (which they're already short-spaced with), 106.7, and 106.3 in central Illinois & 106.3 in South Bend Indiana, then 106.3 could move a bit further north to cover the market a little more. But for where they cover, they do reach their demographics. When WYCA was on 106.3, it always showed up in the books because of the signal reaching their demographics, though they never reached more than a 1.0 share. But for WYCA, ratings mean nothing since it's all brokered programming. If Crawford had to flip formats on 106.3, they might go back to religious programming.

When 106.3 was 106 JAMZ they scored close to a 3.0 share and they were only 2,000 watts then in the last couple of years they doubled
their power to 4,100 watts. I think if they improved the programming and tried not to be a clone of V103 they could do well. I also agree
on the signal aspect of 102.3, their tower is located just south of Beecher and they are only 1,050 watts. Beecher is about ten miles east
of Peotone and south of Crete (their col) so the signal is really only clear to a couple miles north of Chicago Heights. So for them to even
register in the Chicago book is amazing.

I didnt say 102.3 was a 3..... I said the MOMENTUM from 102.3 the groove, gave them a 3 (actually a 2.8) share when they moved to 106.3..thats when Glenn Crosby was the Assistant Program Director and Afternoon Host.....It showed up the ratings...it dropped below a 1 the last 2 books.....
