Given Crawford's Soul 106.3 WSRB Class A 4100 watt Station whose Tower Is right off of I 94
and even with Steve Harver in the Mornings, can they ever really compete with the Heritage V103 (WVAZ)

thoughts...????

Without a more powerful signal, they can't compete in any way with V103. WSRB 106.3 Lansing has maxed out their increase, as they're now short-spaced with 2 106.3's, & 106.7, as their signal has the largest nulls to the SW & to the east, plus a small null to the north to protect 106.7 (since 106.7 signed on under the current spacing rules, where 105.9 & 106.3 have been short-spaced before 1964).

As for programming, Soul 106.3 has been relying heavily on syndicated programming, & being automated on some dayparts, & only heard on the far south side of Chicago & the nearby south suburbs. V103 is owned by the big CC, has a full market signal, has local airstaff for most dayparts (exception being Tom Joyner in the mornings), & they're already established, well before CC took over V103. One of the biggest comparisons is V103 has more newer music with some older music mixed in, where Soul 106.3 plays more older music, with some newer music mixed in.
I'm sure someone can come up with better reasons than mine. But definitely, their targeted demographics live primarily on the south side & near south suburbs, but for those that can afford to live in the northern suburbs can't hear Soul 106.3 that well up there, where V103 can be heard.

isn't there another stick Crawford could Put WSRB on....Say if they could buy Bonneville's 100.3 ...not sure how expensive that would be or if it would even be up for sale.

also not sure if Crawford's Power 92.3 can ever chop down WGCI.....why not put WSRB's format on 92.3 then.....much better signal....and with Steve Harvey on a better signal...could then maybe compete with V103...???

Steve Harvey's morning show is definitely better than Joyner's these days. But I'll give you one name that puts V103 in a class by itself, in any market... Herb Kent. Just be glad you haven't been cursed by Radio One in Chicago. Ever since they bought KMJQ from Clear Channel a few years ago, they really suck now. The only reason they are #1, is because of no direct competition. I travel through Chicago all the time, and I love listening to V103. I'll have to try listening to WSRB, next time I come through there to see the difference.

Yeah thank Goodness Radio One isn't in Chicago either, Just like they Messed up KKBT in Los Anegeles and also WFXC/WFXK in Raleigh,
not to mention how they Chopped up the old MOJO 94.9 in Cincy.....Thank Goodness for Crawford owning Power 92 and Soul 106.

I think Crawford should look at maybe Buying Bonneville's 100.3 Love FM...then move their WSRB on there...then have your Steve Harvey in the Mornings...and Jammin Oldies all day.....?? Considering if Bonnevile would sell the 100.3 Stick.

That would suck if crawford bought Love-FM....Soul plays so few uptempo songs and saturday nights will put you to sleep....

Love's mix show is the best I have heard in a long time....Keep Soul where its at....
