Soul Train Returning?

I would like to see it back, but not in the shape it was when it left. They would feature
about 3 popular songs and the rest were all ho-hum.
That's exactly why I quit watching.
Who wants to sit through 5 ho-hums to hear one good song. Even some of the later artists
were lukewarm as well. However, this is a missing link today. Just the novelty of it being
new should keep it around for at least a few more years.

Don Cornelius sold the franchise years ago in 2009 to Madvision. So he has nothing to do with it. I say go for it. Showtime at the Apllo is gone. But I agree their gonna have to get Top R&B artist to perform. Top of the Pops did it in the UK so why cant Soul Train do it.

We all remember Magic's last foray into syndicated broadcast television, don't we?

Are you ready for magic?

I doubt he is hosting it he's just putting money into the show. Thinking about your comment makes me think of the Magic jokes from Mad TV LOL ;D

The most important part of this show was being a part of the target demo. As Don Cornelius aged, he became more out of touch with the music and the fans. That started to hurt the show.

Unfortunately, Magic isn't in the demo or the community. They need someone half Magic's age, someone who has closer ties to much and the street, and someone who will be on the front end of style and culture. Otherwise, this show will die very quickly.

Trust me hes not hosting just investing $$$$. More than likely I think well see Nick Cannon on it or maybe someone young. He's still looking for a time slot for it so its not a done deal yet. I kinda wonder what was gonna happen. I thought Madvision was in talks with BET to reair the show but Centric only shows past episodes from the 70's and 80's on a limited run. The only thing revived was the award show

In other words, they need a Ryan Seacrest to Don Cornelius' Dick Clark.

I agree with WDB, Nick Cannon would be a good choice in this regard.

Wayne Brady would not be a good choice. Watching him do Let's Make A Deal is like
watching a teacher scratch her nails on a chalk board.

At age 30, Nick would be a good choice to host a remake of Soul Train...if it weren't for him being a weekday morning radio personality on a New York City FM station as well as host of America's Got Talent, to say nothing of him being married to Mariah Carey.

But what about Raven-Symoné, of Cosby Show and That's So Raven fame, as well as some forthcoming ABC Family sitcom entitled The Great State of Georgia(her character's name, not the actual US state)? She's 25, she's done some singing in addition to acting, and, I would guess, has some name recognition within her demographic. Maybe her or some other well-known urban contemporary twenty-something would make a good host for the Train...if name recognition were all that mattered.

I think back in the 80's and 90's Soul Train would film 2 or 3 shows in one day. Americans Got Talent is a summer thing and that specail magic trick called VT on 92.3 Now FM in NY will be no problem for Nick on if Soul Train is produced in Los Angeles again or Atlanta. Not to mention his projects with Teennick but just a example of a host not the offical word. The show probally wont debut until the fall or maybe next year. He's gonna be busy with those twins

Yes!!! I love the Soul Train episodes from back in the day. A revival of this sure would be a breath of fresh air to weekends on tv.

GO FOR IT!!! ;D ;D
