Sound Forge Audio Studio

Anyone know how difficult it is to learn Audio Studio from Sound Forge?
What's the learning curve on this puppy? I just bought it for my home VO business
and have yet to install it and play with it.

Any help is appreciated.....Also, what's a good mic for under $100.00?

Audio Studio is Sound Forge's (Sony) entry level two track audio software. It is very basic, but looks pretty good for VO work I guess. Hell it's 60 bucks..could be just right..a lot depends on your sound card Gary. Are you planning to use your computer's stock sound card? Might be a little noisy, and you will have to get an (under 100 bucks) mic that will have a mini plug on it..not real competitive, but it would work. Most home users like Adobe Audition or Cool Edit Pro (both products are very close) and many use a third party sound card OR USB audio interface that also acts as a mic preamp..this can vastly improve your quality, and allow you use of many more types of microphones. In this case, instead of an investment of 160.00 total, you will have to pony up about 600.00, but if you are looking to make money with this venture it is imperative that you spend at least a little bit more to get it up and running. We have to give clients a reason to use us, and poor technical quality leaves them little choice but to say "no"
 
I tried to load Audio Studio into my computer and for some reason it won't load!
Just sits there and makes noise.

I read it needs 900mhz processing and I only have an 856 unit. Is that the problem or is it the cd? I've tried others and they seem ok.

HELP! I'm getting depressed. This shouldn't be THAT difficult, even to a person with MS.

I just loaded Audacity. That may very well be the answer. Is there a book that goes along with the site that I can look at to help get me started or do I just play with it?

Audacity Help

Click on Audacity's "Help" button and it will give you a link to the documentation. It's a .pdf file that you can download and print.
