Sound out of sync

While watching the beginning of ABC News last night, I noticed that as Charlie Gibson spoke his words were not aligned with his mouth. After a couple of minutes it sounded like he stuttered and then he was in sync. But when they cut to a reporter his words did not sync with his mouth. Is this a problem with HD? I seem to have noticed it here and there on HD channels.

I've noticed the sync problem as well - started about a week ago for me.

I have also noticed a big variation in sound levels between taped pieces, talking heads and commercials. It has gotten so irritating I have switched to another network. I've tried watching on different converter boxes and it has the identical problem on each. Virtually every evening.

I watch ABC via OTA digital but not with a HD decoder.

"Is this a problem with HD?"

I don't think so--I am sure this is a potential problem for *any* ATSC broadcast regardless of its video resolution. ;o)

OPB, as of late, seems to be having trouble keeping the audio and video of PBS Create Channel programming on 10-03 in sync as well.

This has been an ongoing 'improvement' since digital processing started in use, LONG before ATSC hit the air in earnest. It's interesting that you didn't see that sort of aberration with primitive old analog processing. <VBG>

The way things are going, it seems as if everyone wants to talk like Max Headroom (remember him -- and the way he talked?).

I noticed it here in Dallas-Fort Worth Thursday night while watching David Letterman interviewing Johnny Depp. I have Dish Network, so it wasn't An OTA digital problem. It still could have a transmission problem form KTVT-Ch.11 or in the satellite link from Dish Network. I especailly noticed when Depp was taliking.
