Sound quality difference?

Curious as to if, for any technical reason, there is a difference in sound quality in these:

Either just going with a USB mixing board into a PC,

Or going with an analog mixer into a USB interface then to the PC.

Looking at the USB boards in the 3-5 hundred range, or an analog board in the 2-3 hun range and an interface maybe around 2-3 hun.

Is there a reason why staying analog w/the mixer is any sound quality benefit over just using a digital USB board? BTW, will be feeding the mixer line inputs from two diff channel strips.
 
First, you may have to have very good ears to tell the difference.

There are good analog boards and not so good analog boards.

There are desirable USB converters and some not so desireable.

A question like this usually ends up being one of personal opinions and personal taste.

The fewer devices in your chain, the less opportunities to generate noise and hum. Fewer cable connections to oxidize or have a bad solder joint.

Here comes a personal opinion that I can't prove: Even if I don't plan to record at higher bit-rates, I want my analog-to-digital conversion device to be able to do 96k (or better) and 32-bit. I assume such a device will find 44.1 @ 16 a piece of cake and give me near perfect conversion. A device that only does 44.1 @ 16 may have to stretch and strain to do it.
