Sound quality Fresh 102.7 on air and online

I listen online to Fresh 102.7 but the sound quality is very 'flat', no dynamic audio processing. I read elswhere on this board that this also is on FM. What are they using for soundprocessing equipment in the 'mix' days?

For the internet. I hope that they tweak the audioprocessing for the online stream in a more compression position, it's to flat now. Maybe they can feed the stream directly from the on air soundprocessor, that would be better.

I don’t know what equipment the station in question uses, but there are some general guidelines.

Do not use a processor (such as early Orban models, etc) for internet streaming. Those models were meant for terrestrial processing only, and they are not designed for internet stream audio processing. The pre-emphasis curve applied by these types of processor will play havoc with the encoder(s) on the internet stream. You also don’t want clipped audio artifacts on the stream

Less is more as far as compression on the stream goes. You want just enough compression so that the stream isn’t easily drowned out by day-to-day office operations. A good rule of thumb is, if a listener can receive / make telephone calls and converse with co-workers, without having to constantly turn down those little PC speakers, the processing is adequate.

And I wouldn’t spend much time on trying to retain tonal balance of the frequency response. Perhaps a mild amount of bass and treble, and that’s it. Some of those PC speakers out there are pretty cheap and they’re going to mask a lot of your equalization approaches.
