soundprocessing Amp Radio over the air and online

Are they tweaking the over the air soundprocessing after the flip to musicradio? I think you must tweak the processing for music radio because it's different for a talkformat.
The livestream soundprocessing isn't changed yet, it sounds very flat and dry

Processing is incredible. Reminds me of the days when KIIS-FM's processing was good but this is even better. Scott Mason has outdone himself.

Do you know what Mike Joseph's "Hot Hits" format is? Did you ever listen to the Mighty 690? Do you know what CHR is?

The station sounds good. It's tight, it's bright, it's playing the hits, processing is awesome, imaging is good and not unlike KIIS (it's no amatur Movin' imaging)...the station "sounds" like a major market station out of the box. So far, so good. The best START for a competitor to KIIS since Power hit the airwaves.

I'm listeningon the stream right now - reception where I am isn't great ... The processing and pitch are key to the sound.
I have not listened to their stream just the over the air signal and the processing is just incredible. It's loud and compressed yet bright and clean. I love it.

They have a solid quality stream as well... I'm wondering how much they are pitching up the music.

Just some musings (above) gathered from various folks/threads on Fri. 2/20/09 re: L.A.'s 97.1 AmpRadio sound processing.

My 2 cents: being only able to listen online from the NYC area: hard to judge KLSX online stream VS. that of KIIS only because the KLSX-CBS/AOL player (in general) beats out the KIIS-Clear Channel player probably in bitrate alone (KIIS is usually at 35 kbps; KLSX seems to be at a higher rate, seemingly ensuring a better quality out of the gate). KIIS seems to pitch up the music more vs. KLSX, which seems to be at a "normal" speed. More discerning ears would be able to tell the differences/advantages of one vs. the other. Thoughts?

At least you can listen to AMP's stream out of the country. Clear Channel checks your IP address, and being that I'm in Mexico, I'm SOL.

As for processing, you're damn right. It is definitely part of the key to success. Loud and proud baby!

Loud and proud on FM, but on the stream it's dry and flat for a chr station. I hope they tweak it.
I wonder what they using for soundprocessor for FM. Anyone?

For those who live in the market:
Compare KIIS vs. AMP over the air processing.

AMP sounds like its loud enough and better than KIIS in that it's actually pretty clean. KIIS has for a long time sounded over processed and at times distorted. AMP doesn't need to sound like KIIS, just better than KIIS and a clean audio chain is a good start.

The livestream still sounds a bit to flat and dry and sometimes distorted like it's a direct feed without any processing between.

Has anyone tried listening to AMP on the air and then switch over to KIIS-FM? Wow, what a HUGE difference. The AMP audio is crisp and has a right in your face feel. KIIS sounds far away and and muddled after hearing AMP. I hope this station blows the doors off KIIS...KIIS deserves it!

Yeah KIIS's audio hasn't sounded very good in years, since the 80's in my opinion. It is loud, but the processing could sound a lot better...

The stream is exactly 30 seconds behind the over-the-air signal.

The one thing I have been noticing on AMP, just like when Jack went on, is some songs are playing in mono. I haven't found a clear pattern yet but that really bugs me. Right now Dangerous is playing in mono both over the air and on the stream.
