SoundSolution preset - here you go

You need 1.31 for this to work. Rename it to the next highest number...like if ss13.dat is the highest, rename this to ss14.dat. Winamp goes in the main Winamp folder...SAM goes in the main SAM folder.

It's a brand new one I've been using lately that's less aggressive and less impacting, but still does a nice FM sound. It emphasizes bass and the timings work best for dance and pop formats. The overmodulation during high-gain mid-intensive parts is unavoidable in SS due to the lack of oversampling.

For being such an open source and GNU supporter, it's kind of hypocritical to not share my work and research. But anyway, here you go: SS 1.31 Dance/Pop Experimental Preset.

Enjoy. I have 40+ others I'm still tweaking ;)

...and before you test 1, 2 Step from Ciara on it for a pumping test, the song itself overmodulates...not the processing.
______________

It's unavoidable in SS _1.31_, that is. "Ol' Reliable" Sound Solution 1.1 uses a different clipping method which is more similar to what professional FM audio processors use, and thus can be finessed to produce much better loudness with much less distortion.

Try my "Best Ever!" preset for Sound Solution 1.1:

http://www.soundsolution.it/) and let it rock!

If you so desire, MASSIVE amounts of loudness can be produced by simply jacking up the two Overdrive sliders (yes, even the two-band Overdrive slider, which is usually forbidden territory with SS 1.31). Rock music is generally the most tolerant of this kind of over-the-top processing; I was able to overdrive U2's "Pride (In The Name Of Love)" to such an extent that the SS output meter was stuck at the maximum level during the ENTIRE song, yet the resulting audio was no more distorted than that of some of the New York City FM stations (with their clipping-happy Omnias).

p.s. Whatever you do, don't "un-gate" this preset! That's my whole secret magic of how to make SS 1.1 sound great -- to keep it continually "GATED", so that the time constants slow down to a more usable level.

Do you have any recomendations for a oldies station like mine? Im still a babe in the woods when it comes to audio processing.

More aggressive AGC because oldies are mastered really loose. Tighter expander or else you'll get an awful hiss or hum. Very little clipping since oldies are especially hot in the mids and that sounds like ass when clipped (push more highs out to offset the lack of clipping when reaching fringe areas). Generous amounts of stereo expansion to compensate both for mono recordings and to even out those 100% right/left "stereophonic" records. Keep the bass down in the compressor since older people usually listen to oldies...find me ONE person who isn't cutting bass on their radio EQ.
______________

My dad.. Though he listens to more Classic Rock than Oldies and has a Bose audio system (I think.. It's one of those expensive sounding brands) in his Lexus with a pretty damn powerful sub!

Although, I do know what you mean on this.. My grandma turns the bass control all the way down since she doesn't like how WLS and WGN sound with the bass on.
