South Bend-Elkhart happenings

Froggy 102.7 has changed over from Erika Jaye to Katie Cruz (from U-93). Erika left in late July (I believe). Comments?

Any news where Erika went to?

Elkhart's Spanish Translator station 89.9 moved to 89.5 because of the new Bible Broadcasting Network station 89.9 FM (licensed to Wakarusa-but really I would call it New Paris/Milford). That station started May 26th. Source:BBN.

Any further news on Love Songs 1620 or WHLY 1580 as far as DJ's go? Sure would be a good improvement to either station.

WNIL Niles 1290 AM now is using the ABC 'Stardust' Standards-MOR format instead of ABC 'Music and Memories' format. That chance happened 2 weeks ago.

No other news. However, in the free online talk radio. There is a new online talk radio (like lycos/alterna-fancast had-but using a different setup) called http://www.talkshoe.com . Check it out-fun and improving.

Post comments--I am interested.

ABC's Memories feed ceased operation July 28. That explains the flip to Stardust.

Another tracker at AMP...exciting.

Anybody know WHY Hummer is no longer at B-100? Was it budgetary? Heard about it. Read about it. But no explanation ever given.

I like the love songs concept, but doing it on the AM is....strange to say the least. WWLV may prosper a lot better if AMP would flip the station to either talk or some Spanish-language format. At least they'd have a chance to draw some half-way presentable ratings and bring good use to that 10,000 watt stick.

As far as WHLY goes, has anyone found out how and why they were able to get back on the air. Are they still doing classic country?

The way I've heard it, WHLY, and pretty much every station that got an X-band counterpart, is being allowed to stay on the air while the FCC considers the proposal allowing both of the licenses to stay on-air so long as one is either divested to a minority or a small business.
