South Central sells translator..

SC sold their Kodak translator to Ra-Tel in Knoxville who owns WKXV-AM. The going price was $175k. To me that's a bit steep.

With no height limit on translators a good engineer could make this almost a class A. For example with only a translator in Asheville NC on 98.1 , Sweetwater TN & Whitley City, Kentucky both class A's on 98.3 with limited protection, and Hyden KY's C3 on 97.9. 98.1 could be almost a class A in coverage. $175k for a class A is good covering most of Knoxville is good. The daytime signal of 900 AM will cover a good translator:

With this sale and the (still pending?) sale of 106.7, it seems South Central is moving a few chess pieces. Could they be setting up for a 100.3 purchase?

Good observation. They've turned non-essential assets into cash. Their main competitor ceded market dominance to them and seems intent on investing in a big enough remote control to run 500 stations. If my last name ended in 'brecht' I'd sure be looking to add a third uber-sexy signal to my stable.
