1210 WCMQ was not nostalgia. It was a higher rotation version of fm 92. It added talk with Tomasito Regalado in the mornings in the late 80's, and then was all talk when sold to Radio Unica around 1998. I was PD of this little station in about 1985, and we were CHR then.

Suave went to CARACOL as a network affiliation when Levin and partners sold in 1989. The current ownership, El Dorado, took over in 1995 and made the station all Colombian.

WFAB was on 990 and lost its license sometime in the late 60's or early 70's due to fradulent billing by the licensee, United Broadcasting. They were located at Biscayne and about 14th, near the curve in the street just before the Omni.

DAVID THANKS FOR THE REPLY!!! THIS WAS A BIG HELP ESPECIALLY FROM SOMEONE WHO WORK AT THE STATION. HOW LONG DID YOU WORK THERE? I GOT THE NOSTALGIA INFO FROM A DIFFRENT SITE AND NOTICED MOST OF THE BROADCSTING YEARBOOKS SAY THAT THE FORMAT WAS SPANISH/ADULT CONTEMP/MOR. SO I WASN'T SURE. SO YOU ARE SAYING THEY ADDED TALK IN THE LATE 80'S. SO THE STATION WAS MUSIC AND TALK TO 1998? DID THEY ADD TALK WHEN SBS BOUGHT 1210? I GOT FROM ANOTHER SITE THAT 1210 WAS ONCE CALLED RADIO CENTRO WAS THAT TRUE?
DAVID QUESTION DO YOU KNOW THE WHOLE HISTORY OF WCMQ 1210 FORMAT WISE? ALSO WHEN 1260 WENT TO CARACOL 1260 WAS IT ALL TALK?

THANKS AGAIN FOR THE INFO I AM TRYING TO GET A FULL HISTORY OF SOUTH FLORIDA RADIO TOGETHER AND YOU HAVE BEEN A GREAT HELP!!

990. Where Radio Disney currently is....They signed off in the Fall of 1977 when United Broadcasting lost the license...20 years later in 1997 a new licensee put WFBA on the air on 990 as "Radio Aereopuerto Musical", which lasted for 2 years until ABC bought it and flipped it to Radio Disney.

Side note when WNWS 790 first went on they used the old WFAB studios. During the short time WFUN was "Beautiful Music" the studio was out at the transmitter site. The WFAB studios had been vacant for quite awhile by that time and they were a mess.
