South Side Steve on Eagle?

No longer a rumor, SS Steve has landed! Insiders say done deal starts ASAP.

No longer a rumor

South Side Steve is on board at Eagle 106.7, not a bad fit what do you all think?

I'm really starting to like the developments over at Eagle. First with the addition of Southern Fried Friday Nights and now Southside Steve...Yeah C'mon!

With this hire, there's little question 106 is going to the rock/country hybrid. SSS couldn't be a more wrong personality for family-friendly classic country.

Which begs the question, is this the end for Rhubarb? Does he go to the Bull since they're going for older than Kicks but younger than the current 106 crowd?

Yeah, come on! This must mean that Eagle will be changing format soon.

Have you heard Eagle lately? They only play the older stuff on Country Gold Saturday and Sunday night. The Eagle has landed alright and is here to stay... :)

Concerned

If I read Rodney's blog right, he's going to be an extra voice in all three daily shifts?

If this works, I could see this being a widely imitated move. Get your "funny voice" i.e. Tom Sullivan, Mara Davis, etc to work a 9-5, instead of a four-hour shift. Maybe not a part of every break but a few hits each hour. Works especially well on a music format where the patter is usually pretty dry.

My prediction? This is an excellent move for Eagle.

Yes, an excellent move indeed. That should lock up the coveted demo of listeners who grew up on Southern Rock and 30 years later still spend their weekends in strip clubs and sleazy bars. Unless…they did grow up, get a job, have a family and now actually have a life. In that case, maybe not such a good move. Or, if Eagle doesn’t switch to Southern Rock…I don’t even wanna think about that.

Nah…I’m sure “no1uno” wouldn’t have talked up SS unless he knew something the rest of us don’t. Good to see that ABC is taking such a bold step to stop the Bull in its tracks. ;)

Ive never understood why people hate SSS. He's a genuinely nice guy, self-deprecating, doesnt take himself so seriously. Doesnt hog the glory, even though his contribution to TRG was significant. So what if he has a ponytail and endorses strip clubs?

I still say Rhodes and SSS on 96 was the funniest program in the last few years. And, no, I dont know either of them.
