Southeastern CT DX'ing in the Boston area

Tonight, as I'm surfing, I can receive quite a few of the Connecticut stations. The first one I noticed is 96.5 TIC. For a minute I thought it was 96.5 The Mill out of Manchester, NH. But then they were playing the song "Kyrie" by Mr. Mister, and that doesn't exactly sound like a song they'd play on a classic rock station. Then I heard Star 99.9, and then KC101, and then I was able to receive 102.9DRC. And then I checked my TV's with no cable, and I was able to pull in WTNH-8, WCTX-59, and WTIC-61. I couldn't get WFSB for some reason. Oh, and also I think I got Kiss 95.7 as well.

This afternoon in Sutton, MA 100.5 (WRCH) and 101.3 (KCI-FM) were coming in clear as a bell; usually much weaker. Didn't look for others.

I'm in Canada tonight....Hotel in Belleville, Ontario. Buffalo fm stations all present and accounted for with clear to moderate signals, 160 miles away.

At the time of the enhanced reception in Mass the weather was unusually warm (low 80's). Does that have any effect? Or were the winds blowing the signals in from the SW??

Monday night I'm getting St. John, New Brunswick Canada in Poughkeepsie, NY, for Canadian Province #5 on FM. Between 10:30 and 11:15pm I heard "Big John" CJYC on 98.9, CIOK-100.5, and a probable CBAL-FM-4 on 88.1. All are 461 miles from me. And yes, it is weather related, generally cool ground (or ocean) with warmer air above.

Chris from Poughkeepsie
