Southern Gospel DJ Warren Roberts passes

I know this is a late post, but I just found out that Southern Gospel Radio DJ Warren Roberts passed away in early April. I used to work with him at WSSA AM in the late 80's and early 90's. That man knew his southern gospel. He also hosted southern gospel TV shows back in the 60's and 70's.

He had a huge vinyl record collection that spanned 40 years of gospel and Christian music as I remember.

I had a chance to meet Warren at WTJH back in the 80's - just after Jim Rivers sold the station to Bishop Willis. I believe that's when he migrated to WSSA. He promised he would tell me some good "Rivers Radio gossip" but I never got a chance to talk with him again. He was a legend.......
Rest in peace, Warren....we hardly knew ye.

Sorry to hear about Warren. I had wondered several times if he was still living. I first heard Warren in the 50s on WEAS and listened quite frequently to his Coffee Break program. Saw him emcee several All Night Sings at the city auditorium and later met him while he was still at WEAS or I think they had changed it to WGUN by then . I guess he was one of the many influences I had to make me get into radio. RIP Warren.
