Southington High School football returning to WNTY

After an 8 year absence Southington High School Football is returning to WNTY (990AM/96.1 FM) this Friday Night. The 2007 season was the last time SHS football aired on WNTY (then-WXCT) which was the year they were LMA'd to Radio Cantico Nuevo.

Hopefully Red Wolf Broadcasting uses something better than a cell phone to broadcast the games.

So how did the broadcast sound? I was out of state and couldn't listen.

I was working. 99% of the time when I work on Fridays I work 6PM-11PM or 7PM-Midnite.

Caught a few minutes of last Friday's game while driving. Audio from Simsbury was pretty good, at least for the announcer's voice. The crowd noise -- and it didn't sound like there was much of one -- was kind of fluttery-sounding, though. Some sort of digital feed, no doubt, but I can't begin to guess at the specifics. It may have been a cellphone again, just a higher quality one than the one used during the WXCT days.

Shocker. Marc had a Friday Night off from work and he tuned into Blue Knights Football for a few minutes in KOOL 990. Definitely sounds much better than when they carried the games back in the day. It seemed like at least one of the announcers was unsure of some of the rules. And the other announcer I think they said was from The New Britain Herald.

I heard parts of yesterday's Apple Classic game. Audio sounded real good. Congratulations to Southington High School and their 10 and 0 record.
