Southwest Florida Needs a new Top 40 Station

There is no station that will play all the top 40 music. B1039 seems to take a rhythmic and pop lean and no Rock hits. The station sounds good but I miss being able to hear all the top 40 music on one station. I just wish that either 1039 brings the rock hits back or some other station becomes a top 40 mainstream.

The last station to be a full top 40 station in southwest fl is KISS 100 WKFF 100.1
The only station that is top 40 that comes in only on cloudy days is 933flz.

Since there is virtually no chance anyone else will flip to top-40, maybe you should lean on the "B". If enough did, they might get the message...

I remember when WINK 96.9 was Top-40 "WINK-FM 97" in the late 80's. I wonder what happened to them that made them flip to Hot AC?

The fragmentation of the Top 40 format in the early 90's, perhaps?

The target demos have much to do with it. The majority of advertisers, in particular agencies, only buy adults 25-54 or females 25-54. CHR traditionally attracts an 18-34 persons whereas adult contemporary and hot A/C attracts large numbers in both persons and females 25-54.

Thanks for the replies, So basically the market has 3 stations that advetise to adults 25-54 or females 25-54 . WINK, WSGL Both hot ac and WXKB (top 40 with some sort of lean). and also only two station that possibly aim at 18-34 WJBX (modern rock) and WBTT (Rythmic CHR)
But what I still don't get is that if B1039 aims toward an older audience then most of them do, then why don't they sound more hot ac (adult CHR) ?
WINK fm plays most of the rock hits and wsgl follows them in some way but has a lot better mix. B1039 keeps on changing- now they are playing a lot of older stuff that they used to play years ago and todays hits (hip hop and POP and no rock)
So about 4 years ago they were at the same point they are at now, then they finally went for full blown chr for a year or so ( playing everthing, rock, hip hop and POP) and then played (hip hop and POP) and now plays ( Hip hop (not as much rap) and Pop and no rock) You can almost tell when they tweak there format, it seems to be happening quiet often. I like the music they play but needs more hits and little less repetition.

You can suggest they add another HD channel to B 103.9, each station that operates HD can run up to 3 stations in HD if you have a HD tuner.

Some companies started to simulcast there AM stations on a HD FM station. If this chart is correct oldies must be on 106.3 HD2, Rock Emo on 99.3 HD2.

103.9 WXKB-HD FM Top 40
103.9-2 WXKB-HD2 FM Reggae Hits

96.1 WRXK-HD FM Clsc Rock
96.1-2 WRXK-HD2 FM Haney's Big House 96.1

106.3 WJPT-HD FM Adlt Stndrd
106.3-2 WJPT-HD2 FM Solid Gold 106

99.3 WJBX-HD FM Alternative
99.3-2 WJBX-HD2 FM Rock - Emo [/color]
