Sox loss is not good for Fox25

Sox losing to the Yankees means big loss locally for Fox 25. With Cleveland
still in the playoff picture, last night the mother network decided
not to take any chances and made the call to have Angels-Yankees as its
prime-time Game 1 on Tuesday night. Originally, White Sox-Red Sox was
going to be Fox playoff opener. Now, if the Red Sox advance, they'll open
their series in Chicago at 4pm on ESPN on Tuesday afternoon(Channel 5
will probably get to simulcast it in the Boston area)

If Sox need a wild card playoff vs. Cleveland, the game will be an ESPN exclsuive at 7pm. If Astros need a playoff against Phillies, it will be shown
on ESPN at 4pm.

...and Sox-ChiSox will be on Ch 5

But they always put the Yanks on in prime time...#1 market

And, yes, Ch 5 just confirmed it on their 6 pm 'cast: Gm 1 Tue at 4 pm on WCVB-TV. The whole
ABC-ESPN connection<P ID="signature">______________

Red SOx games actually do way better nationally rating-wise on Fox
than Yankees, the #1 market and all.

Yes, ESPN-and-5 will have Game 2(Wed.) and Game 3(Fri), too.
Game 4 will be part of Fox' Saturday's double-header. It's
not so much ABC connection as much as 5's parent Hearst-Argyle
owning 20% interest in ESPN.

PS. Sox updated start times foe Games 1-3 on ESPN and 5...Good times!

Boston vs. Chicago
Game 1 at Chicago: Tuesday, Oct. 4 -- 4 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Game 2 at Chicago: Wednesday, Oct. 5 -- 7 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Game 3 at Boston: Friday, Oct. 7 -- 4 p.m. ET (ESPN2)

Re: ...and Sox-ChiSox will be on Ch 5

It is my understanding that four of the five potential games in the Yankees/Anaheim series will be played in prime-time. The exception: Wednesday's (October 5th) Game 2, which will begin at 10:05 P.M. EDT. All the other games in that series will start at 8:15 P.M., wirh Fox broadcasting Games 1 and (if needed) 4 and 5.

Game 4 in the Red Sox/Chicago White Sox series, if needed, would be played Saturday at 4 P.M. at Fenway and be on Fox.

In all likelyhood, Sunday's Game 5 (if needed) would be on Fox at 8 P.M. only if all the other first-round series have ended.

However, had the Yankees not qualified for the playoffs, it's quite possible the entire Red Sox/Chicago White Sox series would have been played in prime-time.
