Sox re-runs on 'RKO, Celts WEEI

WRKO is doing "seven in '07", whetting the appetites of Sox fans by replaying seven great games of
the recent years not long before Grapefruit league action begins. Heard small bits of it. For the most
part, when going to an ad and Joe C. is saying "on the WEEI Red Sox Radio Network", they fade it
out before the WEEI calls get in there. But at one point last night, the replay included a legal ID of
the sister station--someone saying that the Patriots had won earlier (the game was on a Sunday night/
early Monday morning), "more details later on WEEI Boston". Oops...

Before the game winning hit (it was game 4 of the '04 ALCS), Jerry Trupiano was saying how David
Ortiz was always helping his teammates with clutch hits, and they were jumping on his back (to victory).
Then we hear Trup describing the Ortiz HR that won the game and kept the Sox from being swept:
"There it is! Jump on his back, fellas..." (The TV version, I believe, had Joe Buck borrowing from his
dad Jack: "And we'll see you tomorrow night...!") The Sox had staved off elimination. Yeah, but there's
no way they could win three more to go to the World Series, right?

Wrong :)

Meanwhile, WEEI has aired a couple Celtics games instead of WEEI though obviously the "sponsor package"
Dana Hersey reads still says "the WRKO Celtics Radio Network" etc

Yes though WTTT (weak signal though) is full time talk--and WTKK was also mentioning they were "Boston's
only full time talk station" before WKOX and WXKS changed to Spanish. The two prog talk stations
were also full time talk at the time.

"WEEI has aired C's instead of WEEI"?

"sponsor package"? What the hell is the "sponsor package"? This is "the Celtics Week" on WEEI. Every West Coast road trip game is being run on WEEI this week, including the Lakers on Friday night.

So sad. A great radio station being run by so many "idoits". (With apoligies to Johnny Damon)
The sports fan is confused daily...where are the Celtics, where are the Red Sox ...where will BC be heard and what about the Revolution? WEEI ? or WRKO ? What day is it ???

WRKO "THE TALK STATION" is dead. I hope the Red Sox brass do purchase it. At least then we will know what we are getting.

I also saw in this month's READER'S DIGEST...a slam at WRKO for hiring Finneran, the convicted felon !!! WOW, National Press !

C's to WEEI next year. Revs on WEEI this year.
Sox on 'RKO and 'EEI. BC Football on 'RKO unless conflct w/Sox.
BC Basketball on WEEI(WRKO when conflct with C's.)

I thought they'd said that Celts games would be on WRKO but would be bumped to WEEI if there's a conflict (WEEI may actually get higher ratings with Planet Mikey than WRKO does with the C's!) But who knows,
maybe it'll be C's on 850.

As I said
above, the Celts were actually bumped for Sox _reruns_ (good games, yes, but still technically reruns!
WRKO Classic Sports Network)

I wonder if WRKO will go the way of WTWP (1500 Washington DC) and re-run Sox games at midnight?
(WTWP, "Washington Post Radio", re-airs Nationals games then). Yeah, Noory does have a following
but 'RKO right now is in a swoon for the Sox and if they and the Sox thought it could be a good thing...

Other stations bill themselves as talk but run sports at night.

By sponsor package I mean what Dana reads when he runs down "brought to you in part by..."
He even says "and by WRKO AM 680 The Talk Station" even though games were on WEEI

I rest my case. Conflicts do not help the avid fan wanting to hear their team.

The C's weren't bumped. Some of the West Coast games started after the Sox games on WRKO ended and some nights like tonight there's no Sox rerun on WRKO. It's a planned Celtics Week on WEEI.. Some shifting to WEEI will happen in April when C's and Sox play on the same night. Next season, C's will move to WEEI fulltime.
