WRKO is doing "seven in '07", whetting the appetites of Sox fans by replaying seven great games of
the recent years not long before Grapefruit league action begins. Heard small bits of it. For the most
part, when going to an ad and Joe C. is saying "on the WEEI Red Sox Radio Network", they fade it
out before the WEEI calls get in there. But at one point last night, the replay included a legal ID of
the sister station--someone saying that the Patriots had won earlier (the game was on a Sunday night/
early Monday morning), "more details later on WEEI Boston". Oops...
Before the game winning hit (it was game 4 of the '04 ALCS), Jerry Trupiano was saying how David
Ortiz was always helping his teammates with clutch hits, and they were jumping on his back (to victory).
Then we hear Trup describing the Ortiz HR that won the game and kept the Sox from being swept:
"There it is! Jump on his back, fellas..." (The TV version, I believe, had Joe Buck borrowing from his
dad Jack: "And we'll see you tomorrow night...!") The Sox had staved off elimination. Yeah, but there's
no way they could win three more to go to the World Series, right?
Wrong
Meanwhile, WEEI has aired a couple Celtics games instead of WEEI though obviously the "sponsor package"
Dana Hersey reads still says "the WRKO Celtics Radio Network" etc
