Sox sign 5-year deal with The Score

The Sox, along with Ed Farmer and Darrin Jackson, will stay on AM 670 through the 2015 season. In addition, the Sox are going into the radio business with an HD channel, WJMK-HD3. No start date has been announced, nor is it mentioned whether Sox games will be simulcast on it. The station will also have some Bulls programming and shows related to sports business.

Also from the Sox, a press release from the Good News/Bad News Department: The good news is that Steve Stone will return as TV analyst. The bad news is that Hawk Harrelson will also be back as play-caller (or an unreasonable facsimile thereof).

That's good news--I like Hawk Harrelson. Now if they got rid of Ed (monotone & I never give the score) Farmer, THAT would be good news.

So you're the one. ;D

Farmer's a mediocre-but-improving play-caller. He was much better this past season than in previous years. Maybe if they dumped Hawk and moved Farmer to TV, it would be better - Farmer wouldn't have to talk so much, and he and Steve Stone would be a great combo (IIRC, they spent one year together on radio).

I'd rather the Sox find a way to get John Rooney back, but he's pretty well set in St. Louis so it won't happen.

I agree with bringing John Rooney back then we could get Farmer off of play by play. I know very few Sox fans that like him on the air. He would be fine going back to radio analyst.
I think the Hawk & Stone pairing is great & I hope it lasts for many more years.

You can put it on the board....YES! ;D
