I was at my job yesterday watching the Sox/Yanks game on air TV ( No Cable TV at my Job ). After The rain delay Fox move the game to FX ( Cable TV ) so Fox can air Nascar . I had to listen to the rest of the game on radio. ERROR on FOX ! Fox should had let the Boston and New York TV market show all of game on air TV.

you think that's bad.

Last year they went to Nascar JUST before the last out and missed the start as well.

I would say put the race on delay in the Boston/NY markets.

Contractual obligation with NASCAR - they cannot delay the start or run on tape delay, even if a previous live event goes over. Fox did not have a choice here, but they could have kept the game on until 7p. They even moved the baseball game from the regular 4p start to 3p to try to avoid this from happening. Then again, even without the rain delay Sox/Yanks games never seem to be less than 4 hours.

I agree.....the other option would have been to transfer the games over to the local OTA flagships. Do they have one in Boston? I know back in the day it was Ch. 38. In NY, we have WWOR (Ch. 9).

The Sox do not have a terrestrial flagship station anymore. I noticed that on Saturday too...one of a handful of games on free television, and they can't even show the whole thing. Fox really is the worst.

When I was a kid you could watch Red Sox games on WSBK Boston and WLNE Channel 6 Providence. Now the games are just gone from free TV. It really is a shame.

That is a shame. Is it common not to have a terrestrial station? I know Philly has WPHL, and Chicago, or course has WGN.

FOX messed up big time on this. Would it of been bad to just show the race on FX. MLB should maybe think to partern with another broadcast network.

In New England I think NESN (New England Sports Network) owns all the regional rights to air Red Sox games. Therefore unless you subscribe to cable so that NESN can get their fee, you are just out of luck. You can't even subscribe to MLB.com and watch Red Sox Games in real time due to Black Out restrictions. I am sure this is because of NESN as well. You can always find people illegally streaming games online. So unless you track down one of those streams, there is no such thing as Free Boston Red Sox Baseball in New England (with the exception of a couple of games that FOX airs over the summer.) The almighty Dollar has killed free Baseball in New England. It sucks.

The Red Sox own 80% of NESN (Bruins own the other 20%) so it's in their financial interest to keep the games on their station. When they did have the Friday Night Baseball package with WSBK a few years ago NESN produced the games (although Sean McDonough was at the mike instead of Don Orsillo) and there was no OTA network. NESN broadcast the games outside of the Boston DMA.

Not too many games on MyPHL17. I think these are produced by CSN-Philly. Some graphics and the CSN logo replaced by MyPHL17 logo.

Was the game on nationwide on FX or just New England NY & North Jersey? Had Phillies game on down here in Philly. Mad I cannot watch other FOX games on the MLB package that I have with DirecTv so that I can watch all the other games on NESN-HD. Advantage over Xfinity that only shows home feed, most in SD.

As well as the rare Phillies game on KYW/3, including the home opener.

Do you get Fox Sports en Espanol? They often run the alternate game.

Home opener was on CBS-3 is when the on air broadcasts were on CW-57, also a CBS station. On air moved to MyPhl17, Tribune owned.
