Spanish Announcer In Vineland Dies While Refereeing A Basketball Game

South Jersey Spanish-language radio personality Sony Lugo died suddenly October 28. He was 55. Lugo was refereeing a basketball game when he collapsed on the court. Lugo hosted a talk show on Clear Communications Spanish-language "La Zeta" WMIZ (1270) in Vineland/South Jersey.

I worked alongside Sony in three different buildings: while he was at WREY and I was at WSKR, while I was at WOND/WMGM and he was at WONZ, and while he was at WMIZ and I was at WVLT. One of the nicest people you could ever meet in this business and he will be sorely missed.
