What radio are you using? Many analog tuned radios use a 455kHz IF filter (my digitally tuned Panasonic RQ-SW20 uses a 450kHz filter). On my Panasonic, when I'm at my grandparents house in San Gabriel, they are about 1/4 mile away from a transmitter on 1430 with an asian language format, and on 530 (900kHz down, or 450 * 2) I can hear the same station.

In your case, if you have a 455 kHz filter in your radio, 530 + 455 * 2 = 1440. There's a spanish format station on 1440 in the Austin area. It could be that you are VERY close to their transmitter and are experiencing the same type of thing I experience in San Gabriel, CA.

I'm using my Sony ICF-CD863V digital tuner Radio alarm clock at night that is a pretty decent am radio reception on it for a alarm clock, it can pick up WSM pretty good as well as KWKH most every night. <P ID="signature">______________
