Actually, that is not "contemporary" unless you mean gold-based Adult Contemporary. It is soft AC.

The only station playing contemporary Spanish language music is La Kalle 105.7.

LA KALLE plays mostly Reggaton, but I prefer listening to SPANISH CHR or SPANISH HOT AC. Also, I wish we have Tropical format here, but becuase of the ethnic group of Latin people in the bay area, I doubt we will ever have Tropical format here in the Bay area.

Reggaetón _is_ today's contemporary Spanish music, from Chile to San Francisco.

The only Spanish CHRs in the US are in Puerto Rico, which is 100% Spanish dominant and can support the high cumes needed to compensate the low TSL that CHRs have in any langauge.

This is sort of what Superestrella, the Entravision format, does. However, it survives mostly due to its morning show and the music dayparts are very weak. In LA, they are 6th or 7th Spanish station in music dayparts.

This format, without tons of reggatón, does not work.

Tropical as anything but an oldies format for over 35 year olds is dead, even in Puerto Rico where there is no longer a current based tropical station. Obviously, on the West coast there are not enough people to support this... although it might appear on an HD-2 channel.
