Spanish Music In Spain

I notice in Spain. A lot of radio stations plays a lot more English music than Spanish music. Also, alot of Spanish music are homegrown instead of importing from Latin America? Why Spain plays alot more English music than Latin America. In Latin America, they play alot more Spanish than English like Argentina, Mexico, Puerto Rico.

Spain and Latin America are two totally different cultures. For that matter, Argentina, Mexico and Puerto Rico are just as different from each other culturally. They use different words like we use different words from the Brits, for example, only even more so. I wouldn't expect a Norteno format to work in Madrid any more than a country format in Liverpool.

Sorry....I should be more specific. I meant Spanish Pop music. In Mexico, Argentina, Puerto Rico, (Latin America). Majority of Spanish Pop radio stations plays a lot of Spanish music such artist as Reik, Aventura, Camila, Gloria Trevi, but across the atlantic majority of Spanish Pop stations in Spain plays mostly English music than Spanish. Take a look at Las 40 Prinicpales and compare to other latin american countries.

No, that is what a pop station in the US in Spanish would play. In Mexico it would be those less Aventura. In Chile or Argentina it would be artists like Teen Angels, Shamanes Crew, Babasónicos, Kudai, etc. And, on most of the stations in Central and South America, they would be mixed with Lady Gaga and friends, as it has been with pop stations in Latin America for 45 years or more... Radio Musical, the first Top 40 in South Amerca, dating to 1964, played nearly half of its music in a language other than Spanish. It's direct descendant, JC Radio, is about 50% of each today.

Póp leader 40 Principales is 60% Spanish pop. It's top 40 chart has 21 songs in Spanish, 19 in English... much as it has had since launching in 1967.

High rated adult pop Cadena DIal is all Spanish. Las 100 is about 70% Spanish pop.

If we look at CHRs like Mega in Venezuela (80% Spanish) and the unrelated Mega network in Colombia (70% Spanish) or Carolina, Hits and 40 Principales in Chile or 40 Principales in Argntina we see that they play about 40% English material.

All over Latin AMerica and Spain, there are also pop or pop rock or pop dance stations with 100% English music. That is a different format, and has always been around since the 70's, nearly everywhere.
