Spanish Oldies Networks

Anyone with knowledge of these formats and their networks, can anyone tell me, which company or individual started the first Spanish oldies format. I am not shure if it is Recuerdo, La Preciosa, Jose FM (not likely), or the one nobody has mentioned around this board, La Bonita. I am not shure, but I think This network has been around for a while now. Even longeer that Recuerdo. Does anyone know when this network started?

Recuerdo was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay first. Feb 11, 2000. Preciosa's rip off started in 2004, and Jose just started late last year. La Bonita was also started last year.

However, none of these formats is described as oldies, as they play through very recent years, like 2004. They are Spanish Adult Hits. The only oldies staiton in Spanish in the US is WCMQ in Miami, which is about 15 years old.

Well, how many more of these networks are there in the U.S. as of today. I know it is Recuerdo, La Preciosa, Jose FM, La Bonita, La Lupe, and what else.

Well, I know for a fact that Bustos Media does a lot of satellite feeds. I remeber listening to La GranD over in seattle. I remeber getting in an airplane and turning on my small pocket radio and started listening to the exact same feed over @ 101.9. I assume the station was coming in from Boise since we did barely had taken off.

Too bad SBS stations don't stream, otherwise I'd be listening to Estereotempo and Z93 the same way I listen to Notiuno and Radio Isla from Puerto Rico.

How old is the music they play? (Though the "CMQ" in the call should give me a clue). I'm neither that old nor am I Cuban however.

For me, (37 yr old Puerto Rican) oldies are La Pandilla's hits from the 1970's, and, of course, all of Menudo's output up to 1985.

WCMQ, "Clásica 92" plays mostly 60's and easrly 70's stuff. It's biggest draw is comedian Guillermo Alvarez Güedes in mid-days, when music is not very important to them.

Here is my 70's list of Puerto Rican ballad artists.

Wilkins
Chucho Avellanet
Ednita
Nydia Caro
Yolandita Monge
Lissette
Olguita
Anexo Tres
Sophy
Lou Briel
Celinés
Oscar Solo
Katraska
Danny Rivera
Menudo
Aquamarina (Edgardo Diaaz' creation prior to Menudo)
Lucecita
Tony Croatto
Johanna Rosaly

WCMQ is a good DX marker for tropo or E-layer conditions out of South Florida. I have heard it here in Houston on many occasions, and the format is quickly recognizable. Excellent audio quality/processing as well. 8)

Señor Gleason, my senior class is reuniting next year for our twentieth anniversary, and I was wondering if you could advice me where I can find Puerto Rican hit parade listings (both spanish & english) from the 1980's so I can post them on our forum.

Thanks
