Spanish on 101.7 near Providence/Pawtucket border

When driving from Providence into Pawtucket on I-95 near the Bonanza Bus station, there is a station playing Spanish music on 101.7 The signal is very strong right near the Providence/Pawtucket border, strong enough to interfere with B101 and knock out Cool 102. It quickly fades as you go into Pawtucket, so the station must be located very close to I-95 somewhere near North Main Street. This must be a pirate, but what a rediculous frequency to be running a pirate on, right next to and even intefering with B101's frequency. <P ID="signature">______________

Curly: Or a phoney at the mike!

I heard this pirate when I was traveling to Rhode Island on Thanksgiving. Living in Boston, I have 101.7 on a preset (WFNX) and inadvertantly pressed it only to hear Spanish music right where you said, in the northern part of Providence on I-95. I first thought I was travelling alongside someone with an iTrip or Satellite device that puts the signal out over the air, but realized a minute or two later that I hadn't been travelling alongside the same cars. It was causing some interference with WWBB, and I'm sure once CC catches wind of this, which they may have already, 101.7 won't be on the air for too much longer.

Why 101.7? What a bunch of nit-wits for putting a pirate right next to a local 50-kilowatter!

Somehow the concept of a pirate station in the knockoff Rolex capital of the state frightens me.
The idea of anyone having a computer in Olneyville frightens me too.
Knowing someone in Olneyville even knows how to get a pirate on the air & I don't does nothing for my self esteem.
