Spanish pirates liked by FCC?

I live on the border of NY and NJ and I notice more and more spanish radio pirates popping up everyday here, nothing being done about it
94.3,95.1,95.9,97.5,99.9,102.3,104.7 gimmie a break! This is selective enforcement. If someone put a rock or country station on it would be off ASAP.

It's been a problem since the middle of the last decade. Pirates never get shut down or fined, regardless of format. Its just that most of the people running the pirates that do not care about the FCC laws are Spanish or Caribbean. The demographics of rock and country audiences (mostly middle class) are not prone to breaking laws, but the demographics of minority formats are more prone to breaking laws.

There's a dance pirate in Trenton that hasn't been shut down for years. Not that I am advocating pirate radio, in fact I hate pirates, but you could start a pirate station tomorrow with a rock or country format and stay on the air till your transmitter breaks years later.

Not true, I wrote about this months ago... in Central Jersey, there was a Country pirate to fill the gap when no country station was in the area and it was shut down within a month..... also, there were a few rock oriented pirates that were shut down also in the area in a short time... this was 5 years ago or so...bottom line:: minorities are above the law....and that is fact....I guess when WE are the minority in the year 2045 they will still shut us down LOL...:(

The FCC is afraid of violence breaking out and no matter what many of the people on this list think it is only a friggen radio station. It is kind of a stupid thing to have someone killled over.

I agree with you BUT why would the chicken s**t FCC signal out MY kind of music Rock, Country, Metal, and go after the operators with vengence...sounds like double standards to me....fair is fair.. if you leave these so called people of color formats alone then leave MY formats alone, hey wait I have color I am not transparent...LOL

More proof those here illegally are indeed above the law and have more rights then citizens. When are we going to take our airwaves (and country) back from these invaders?

The FCC doesn't go in alone, they go in with the FBI and they are armed.

If you were an FCC inspector, would you want to go to a dangerous neighborhood unarmed by yourself and make a bust?

Considering that many of the stations in Spanish you refer to can be traced to Puerto Rican pirate operators, your remark is uncalled for. Puerto Ricans make up half the Hispanics in the NY metro, and I have yet to see a Puerto Rican here illegally...

I did not know there were many people from Spain in NY. The Census shows a very, very small number. Why would people from Spain want to have pirate stations?

Look, regards of race, color, what format is on, it doesnt matter. What matters is even though a hole is filled and want "your" terrestrial radio back, it is still illegal and unfair to the broadcasters who spend their money on licensing and royalties. Yes, it is nice to hear them because you cant get that format "anywhere else" at the same time, is it all worth it to throw yourself out there taking a big risk?

Another thing about pirates is I get a humor of them saying they are "no. 1" for their format and say on air they have x amount of listeners and know how many listeners they take away from another radio station.

Well, I dunno - if the argument is that they're courting an audience that isn't able to hear their programming "anywhere else", maybe we should be thanking them for expanding radio's overall audience?

/I'll get my coat...

The Peoples from Spain are European and thus labled Caucasian...the Spanish I think he was referring to were Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Jamacians and most illegal island peoples which have no right to any illegal format, they have their own stations...and me being of Jewish decent have nothing, in fact, the Caucasian peoples that came here in the 1900's had no format or station catering to them, they learned English or did without .....now adays if your Spanish (not from Spain), you are allowed to have it your way which is a bunch of bull.....how can one ethnic have their own television and radio formats...is this fair...

Have you listened to the radio dial lately? Notice something about the illegal stations-between-the-stations?

The La Fiesta pirate on 107.9 Perth Amboy area just boosted their signal. I picked them up in Long Branch last night.

What a coincidence, Streetz 96 boosted their signal too, interfering with Wired 96.5 as far south as North Brunswick. Or maybe tropo is enhancing the pirate station signals. I did notice 92.9 The Beat was being beaten up by Magic 93 last night.

Ok so if you want a country or dance format put it in the worst section and nobody will bother you.Fixed!

There are 20 Caribbean stations. Using that logic, since 87.7 is now Caribbean, the pirates should all go off the air.

True and not one Cauc targeted format such as Country, Rock, Metal, Folk, Standards, Punk, Grunge and the list goes on and on..and the reason the liberal politically correct bias FCC would shut them down.....Its been proven when one of the mentioned formats pop up they are targeted and gone in less than a month....bottom line....I guess they dont want Jackson and Sharpie all over them....the wheel that squeeks the most gets the most oil and attention and the race game is played over and over....is this fair oh yeh its America where my kind dont count....

I never heard a rock or country pirate. The FCC database doesn't show too many recent busts. There is no room on the dial for new pirate stations, the existing pirate stations have gobbled up all the frequencies.
