Grupo PRISA's Mexican subsidiary, Televisa Radio, can actually own the station, so there is no need to do a US Sales agreement if they want to go that way. So far, nohting has been announced about a deal, and, in theory, they have just a week left to spin this off.

There have been rumors that Clear will move the XHOCL format to an SD market FM.

.... another SD market FM.

Yes. One in the market. One they actually own, one of the several SD stations that they have.

Exactly, one of the San Diego market stations like the rimshot wannabe XHOCL. Although this one example, you may be right, as 99.3 never made much of a splash in its target market: San Diego. Unlike XEPRS.

They don't own XHOCL, and it is a Tijuana market station, trying to rimshot SD with a lower powered signal.

When 99.3 was oldies, what market were they in then?

They were and are, as long as they program for a different market, a rimshot.
So when they were oldies they were a San Diego Market aimed station and now that they are La Preciosa they are a Tijuana Market aimed station?

BTW are rimshots with txrs south of the border supposed to be receivable in Brea (North Orange County) ?? because I received them regularly during the Summer and Fall months in my Brea office. Not that I expect any regular listeners in my neck of the woods (my office) but the word "rimshot" to me means a weak station that should not be regularly receivable 120 miles or so away.

Both formats were / are operated as SD market rimshots form Tijuana.

The Preciosa format is not programmed for Mexico, where it does not work well. It's designed for Mexican immigrants living in the USA. In any cse, it has been sold to MVS, who will continue to operated it as a SD rimshot, packaging it with Exa to sell in SD.

Some rimshots have perfectly acceptable signals in other markets. The "rimshot" term applies when a station outside a market attempts to program for, and sell in, an adjacent market. All the term means, in Arbitron terms, is that it is not "Home" to the market under discussion and would, in the printed book (which is now gone) be listed "below the line." Some rimshots, like KLYY in riverside / San Bernardino, can certify that they wish to be considered home to the adjacent market, and are listed as such with a notation that they are not "in" the market but have selected to be listed. In this case, they will be listed below the line in the market where licensed. XETRA has requested being listed as "home" to LA! (But, because they have no numbers, is not listed at all anyway)

I heard rumors that La Preciosa will be moving over to 95.7FM but how is that
going to work if the signal is as bad as KLQV 102.9 in the south bay.

And David E you just answerd my question that XHOCL 99.3 is aquired by MVS
radio, the same company that owns XHGLX 91.7 and XHTIM 97.7, do you think
La Mejor 97.7 could simulcast on 99.3 like La Invasora does one station for the
Tijuana spots and the other which would be 99.3 for the San Diego spots.

Just a wild guess.

KLQV is a few weeks away from going non-directional under the currently active CP. And a station that is the #1 Spanish staiton in San Diego must have some kind of signal to be that highly rated. (it is #5 general market 25-54).

MVS is keeping the Preciosa format which is satellite delivered from Clear Channel in Salinas; it has no local content.

La Mejor does badly in Tijuana, too. It is about the lowest rated FM in the INRA books. I doubt they want to get into a battle with XHTY and KLNV.

And that all means that Preciosa will not move to 95.7, at least unless MVS tires of it.
