yawnfest
Nothing personal, Bobby. Like I said, the whole oldies format "good times- great oldies" drone has been going on for 2 decades and most Oldies jocks just "deliver" the lines but the fun and genuine sizzle rarely blast out of the speakers. That's certainly not your fault but your station (and, subsequently, your show) fall into a very large group of OK, not great but not bad radio stations. And, if that's the goal, fine. It just isn't working in most cases and won't be enough to move forward with the growing technology and increasing choices. Being "good" won't be good enough (and actually never really has been). The fact that Cumulus is happy with it doesn't exactly make most in radio drop to their knees in awe, either.
I also find it amusing that now "according to research" is the fallback when usually "the research" (or over-use of it) is normally a scapegoat. If your bosses are "researching" benchmark features, they're wasting their money. Research should be used on much more big-picture things, like music, position, strategy and marketing. Having the world's greatest features won't do any station a bit of good if they're off the mark with the music, positioning, etc.
Again, nothing personal. Just honest observations. I'm sure you're a nice guy and a great American. I'm just rarely impressed with "OK" radio.
