"He's on a few stations.....not like he was when syndicated by W One. His syndicator now is Lifestyle Radio Network."
Many of the shows pay. It's the "lifestyle" counterpart to co-owned Business Talk Radio Network, with more brokered shows.
"No way...KRC just gave all 3 hours of Savage live! Which is what he probably wanted. It's not going to matter since the Furman thing will only last a year until the owners realize they overpaid for no ratings and go back to syndication to save that money."
Umm, 7-10pm is two hours live, and it's on FM, and the station is clearing two other shows that no one else in the market wants. Be good to those who help you out - KRC does nothing for TRN because Ingraham and Savage would be cleared elsewhere if they dropped them. Not so for 96.5's shows. I've never heard a caller from 'KRC on Savage, ever. Hannity gets a number of them, and I rarely listen to him. Live is important, especially to TRN, but it's really not that big of a deal when you're on 370 stations and take relatively few calls anyway. (BTW, Savage has been on from 6-9pm ET for more than two years, now, and 55 just moved him up to live because Jim Cramer no longer does a show. Their hand was forced)
"Also did you see the billboards Dave Ramsey bought? Classy. Have to buy your own billboards? Well...It worked for Jerry Springer..."
If he wants to buy billboards, why not? It's a good way to get clears without actually paying for the time. It's hard being syndicated independently when you can't use other shows to force feed another. Plenty of networks do it. It just so happens to Ramsey is not only the host but the top manager at his company that syndicates him.
"I agree with getting Savage from KRC. It would be a better show to follow Furman. Also running Dave Ramsey from 2 to 4pm doesn't make sense as his show attracts an audience that will not stay tuned to sports talk."
You do have a point. Although, Dr. Laura, who is among the top shows with women 25-54 in LA, wouldn't make the best lead in for two guys screaming about illegal immigration. But it does increase cume and sources of revenue. I'd personally prefer the third hour of Beck on delay, Ramsey prefed from 1-2, and then live from 2-4. Cutting O'Reilly out of the equation would lead to midday TSL among younger and female listeners and not cause turn-out that might not come back.
"If I was programming the station, I pick up Tom Leykis and run him 10-1am. As for 2-4pm, Why not sign Tim Big Dog Lewis who is back in town."
Leykis is a talent, of which is seemingly a crime to say these days, but doesn't belong here. FM talk should reach out to non-traditional talk audiences (which Leykis does, at the expense of alienating others) which at least Cumulus realized with a couple of the shows.
"I'm not big on Rusty Humphries but you could plug it in overnights which would be better than SNR."
Rusty isn't there because he's a talent. He's there because the Dickeys are cheap and TRN gives them a discount off the hundreds of thousands they charge for Mancow by clearing him (which again, they need as top 50 market clears for, and this was their only chance in Cincy, if not all of OH). That being said, SNR is weak, unless you consider that there is a part of the market that basically has no sports station thanks to the preach-n-teach block starting at midnight (1am now?) on CKY.
