The joint sales agreement is still in place between Holston Valley and Media General/WJHL. The reason I know this (even though nobody talks about it), is because I just happened to be on Holston Mountain with a friend the other day, and there is still (and has been for several months now), a huge, white conduit running between WKPT-TV's TV tower and WJHL-TV's TV tower about 100 feet away. That cable used to carry WJHL-TV's newscasts to be simulcast on Channel 19, and also sales information between the respective sales departments.
But now that WKPT-TV no longer simulcasts Channel 11's newscasts, the conduit is still there, meaning the joint sales agreement is still in place.
Further up the mountain, WCYB-TV's joint sales marketing and LMA agreement with the owners of WEMT-TV, Greeneville is cooking right along. WCYB-TV also does a newscast for WEMT-TV and also does sales for that station (hence the microwave dish on CYB's Holston TV tower that is pointing southwest down the ridge, away from Bristol. It's pointing towards Camp Creek Bald, on the Tennessee-North Carolina border 15 miles south of Greeneville, to the short Channel 39 tower that WEMT-TV is on.
