Speaking of Jefferson-Pilot....

According to the website for JP's syndicated "Bob and Sheri" (bobandsheri.com) morning show (via JP's WLNK-FM, The Link, out of Charlotte), Bob and Sheri are now carried on a station in Newport, RI...WJZS (www.993WJZS.com). The station bills itself as The Bridge.

From their website: We're The Bridge... Spanning Generations and playing a vibrant, unusual adult mix of great songs rarely heard on other stations. You'll hear everything from jazz greats, popular artists and a hot collection of blues and classic R&B. Tell your friends about us!

I used to listen to Bob and Sheri when I travelled thru southern and central Maine a few years ago for a previous job. Also listened to them a few years back when I lived in North Carolina. And heard them a year or two ago on one of their affiliates while vacationing in Florida. Always enjoyed them.

Didnt ever really think there would be a market for them in New England though. However, there'd be more of a market for them in New England than, say, John Boy and Billy.

I check bobandsheri.com semi-regularly and WJZS was added, it seems, only within the last week or so. Has anyone in the Newport, RI/southern MA area heard them on the station?? What are your thoughts??

I just heard WJZS two or three days ago, ironically, with my HD Receptor Radio with the original antenna from 75 miles away. In any case, they were IDing as "Swing FM" at the time. This "Bridge" rebranding and addition of Bob and Sherry seems to have happened in the past day.

Bob and Sherry were on Kennebunkport, ME's 104.7 WQEZ before Nassau ditched the station's adult contemporary format for a simulcast of 106.7 WHXR. Were they on any additional stations in Maine, or New England for that matter?

Yup, that's the "southern Maine" station I used to hear them on. They are still on WEZQ, 92.9, in Bangor, Maine (at least a good 10 years now) and wayyyyyyyyyyyy up in Presque Isle, Maine on Q96.1, WQHR.

Other than in Maine, I'm not aware of B&S ever being on any stations in any other New England states.

They are syndicated on a station in Hudson, NY (WCTW, 98.5 Lite-FM) which I'm guessing (only guessing) MAY get into extreme western Massachusetts.

I think its "syndicated" you meant to put in quotes. Do they have an affiliate larger than Newton, KS?

Not to say they're untalented (in my limited listening); it's just that the local manhating morning shows come in with less fuzzily.

IIRC, Bob & Sherry were briefly on 93.5 on Cape Cod in the very late 90's or early 2000's. This station has had a variety of formats over the years. It ran an alternative format (the old WDRE simulcast) in the mid 90's and when that fell apart they went to an adult CHR presentation and ran B&S in mornings. This lasted less than a year before the station flipped again to another format (I think it was oldies.) Today they simulcast with 101.1 in Falmouth and the duo just recently flipped to variety hits as "Frank FM."

That was probably WYST "Star 93.5". I think that station was entirely satellite-delivered, it only lasted two years or so until it became automated "Oldies 93.5".
