Speaking of K104

Yesterday (12/22) was K104's 35th anniversary on the air. That makes them older than most of their demo. In the interest of being au courant, I doubt they'd publicize such an event...management would perceive it to be a turnoff to listeners, I guess.

Repeat after me: "K104 IS DISCO SOUL" ;D

Bring out the K104 Disco Chicken, and show your blue "K-1-oh-4" card (I think I still have mine.) Vern Catron, Randy Johnson, Y-Vonne St John and the Catbird will be with you shortly, along with Dwaine Caraway on sports (now there's a guy who's come a long way...now Mayor Pro-Tem of Dallas.) First song I ever remember hearing on K104 was "Boogie Nights" by Heatwave, sometime around December, 1977.

Yea.

They could sponsor a movie night with the remixed, digitally remastered version of CAR WASH!

It looked good the other night on Retro Movie HD channel! ;D

HA!! Classic. But they should have let Richard Pryor have a real role in it. It was more of a cameo, obviously done on the cheap BUT to help sell tickets.

The K104 card was really the "K-1-oh-Fortune" card. Hear your card number called out on the air and win some dough. Back then, I believe the top cash prize was $104. But that beats their earlier contest..."Listen for the Words that Win...'K104 is Disco Soul'"...caller #(x) would win "ten dollars of free money," or they would "give you something to kick about" (which was a soccer ball. Yes, really.)
