Speaking of KPWR...

The HD signal is officially on tonight, heard them bragging about it in a promo.

Now how soon will they have a multicast up? Hmmm.<P ID="signature">______________

Couldn't we just dump all this technology and go back to playing 45's on directional, low power AM's?

I don't recall if it was here or another board (I'm on about ten of them) but the present consensus is that most stations won't go to a second digital stream until there are enough HD radios in the marketplace.

It's a Catch-22 of sorts: No one will provide the programming until the audience has the equipment, but there isn't an incentive to get the equioment until the programming is there.

I'd tell you what I think the dual-stream FM HD would be useful for, but I want to get paid for this idea, so I'll wait for a client to write me a check.

Probably about as soon as they feel they want to start competing with themselves.

They already have a top station, and I'd think they'd consider it foolish to cut the pie up any more. (Gee, maybe after awhile they won't have a top station anymore, and/or the advertisers can demand lower rates because of even more audience fragmentation so the stations don't make as much money...sounds like a wonderful idea to me).

Don't know if we could do it. Wire recorder production just ain't what it used to be...
