I'm suprised our erstwhile radio/tv columnist Rodney Ho missed this one, but former WGST host Ian Punnett, who's in Minneapolis, will be taking over the Saturday night shift of Coast to Coast AM as Art Bell is cut back to once a week and sometimes not even that with best of shows airing in it's place. The announcement was made by Bell himself this past Sunday night at the start of his show.<P ID="signature">______________

Well I'm a bit crestfallen at that news... the Coast website says two Saturdays a month, and Hilly Rose will fill in some Saturdays. Ian Punnett will host Sundays.

There's also been Chris McGill filling in for the vacationing George Noory this week, and Ian Punnett is on the air tomorrow night as well. I'm glad Art's not giving it up altogether... again. What do we know about the McGill character? I heard a bit of his show the other night. It wasn't bad, but otherwise unremarkable from what I heard in hours 3 and 4.

I love Art, but I had the good fortune to have several conversations with Ian about how it is a shame what talk radio has turned into. He and Bob Coxe are two of the smartest and talented people I've ever met anywhere, much less worked with in radio. Good luck Ian.
