Speaking of the ESPN.....

I also hear that 103.3 is going to pick-up Collin Cowherd from 9 to 12, then go local at Noon with Matt Mosley a real possibility as one of the hosts...
Wow, waiting to go local until Noon, They really don't have a clue over there.

Well, I have been corrected/updated....I was a little off, the station has started promo's that The herd starts on Monday..Word is that it will be Herd till 11, and if the deal gets done, Mike Irvin show from 11 to 2, and Mosley/Estridge for one hour 2 to 3, followed by GAC....Real cute til Football is done, then what do they talk about?

Imagine Irvin's rant on Tiger Woods... possible. The Williams Sisters... maybe, although he may have some serious issues pronouncing "S-h-a-r-a-p-o-v-a". ;D

Other possible moon craters waiting to happen:

> His focus on Avery's zone defense when they should be hitting man up against Phoenix or Cleveland. "How you say that Z-Man's name again".
> Hot Stove! (Instant classic)
> The Stars and all those jacked up Euro-names seen daily.
> and hey, there's always Beijing 2008! Gymnastics should be a time for popcorn. ;D

Mosley and Estridge only gets one hour? They could carry more then an hour. I guess that will be the Pre-game show for GAC. It will be interesing to listen to Irvin outside of football season.....

Mike & Mike, The Heard. The've lost to the ticket by 9am. I listen to the station for GAC 3pm-6pm. the only local programming outside of the Mavericks.

Radio like Politics is all local.

Whoever comes in from 12 to 3pm is also dead in the water from jumpstreet.

This is what the new PD was brought in to do? If he bought a house, he should stay in touch with the realtor. ::)

The bad news is Cowherd is the best show they have ever had at 9am... They are lost over there, DFW is about DFW, you have to be local, Period. The Ticket can continue to coast because they have nobody to worry about.

WOW, you guys are knuckle heads!

You get more sports news and info from ESPN than you EVER get on Ticket! Mike and Mike have great guest that actually know what they are talking about...on Musers you get Gordo who knows nothing about sports and he admits it and you get 2 Cowboy homers, one of them is employeed by the Cowboys and would NEVER have a real oponion on the Boys.

Hardline is all about over cusser, concert calender and eith Danny's band or that re-hash Tom Petty crap. Thought Petty and his music died in the 80's.

I listen to both....but for different reasons....Ticket to laugh at the mindless humor and ESPN for sports info and updates. The Ticket does a great job...but come on...they are not a sports station and if you think they are just go to New York, Phily, Chicago or Boston where they have real sports stations.

Quite bashing ESPN...there is room for 2 so-called sports stations.

Hey Trip,
Most of us have little interest in hearing anything about the New York teams.....If you want to hear anything local you have to listen to the Ticket. Now, I agree that they don't talk enough sports these days, but at least I can turn on the radio on Monday morning following a Cowboy game and hear talk about The Cowboy Game! Not the Giants, Not Vick, but Dallas/Ft.Worth Sports talk.... All that ESPN is rolling out is Network crap followed by "Can't find anything else to fill time, so let's call it the GAC Pre-show"...
Give me a break. That station has lost it way since Scott Masteller left as Program Director, along with most of it's best hosts.
Gee I miss Steve Dennis, Ian Fitzsimmons, Dave Shore, and Mike Taylor.
I really miss good local Sports talk!

Give me the Homers and Why Today Doesn't Suck over Grandpa Urine anyday. Why would I want to hear Mike and Mike talk 25 minutes about the Cowboys when I can listen to basically 4.5 hours of Cowboys talk. I live in D/FW not Miami or New Yuck City.

Its not like Scott M. was doing a great job either. I know becuase I was there. He is better with the national gig than with a local station. No "all-sports" station will ever work here or it will be years away before it does. You could get the best talent, best guests and best shows all you want, but it will be years anyone can take down the mighty ticket. Greggo being gone is the first crack, but its not like the walls are caving in.

I think your point, combined with SalemJedi's point about hearing 'hours' of cowboys talk on a Monday after a game raises a valid point. Everybody complains about the Ticket not talking enough sports, but I tune in on a Monday and generally ALL I hear is sports. Oh sure, they mix in their benchmarks of Muse in the News, Gordo's corner, etc, but out of 4 hours, probably 3 of that is 'straight sports. then 2 hours of straight sports from Norm, and both B&D and HArdline will be more sports than non-sports on a post gameday show.

As mentioned before, they have weekly interviews with all the heavy hitters in town- they broadcast every major press conference live, etc...When a cowboy coach is hired (or fired) they're wall to wall roundtables, etc.

Is it possible that they're doing the non-sports stuff because it's reallyhard to make "all sports" stretch to fill 3 or 4 hours...Especially when you consider that you rarely have all 4 making news at the same time.

And if it is so easy to make all sports entertaining for 4 hours straight, someone explain to me why, after a decade in the market, ESPN can't make a dent in KTCK's dominance...

I'm not saying Scott was great, he was just a lot better than what they have now...
The #1 reason that ESPN can't make a dent in 7 years is Leadership... People in charge have no clue what makes this market tick. Until they get people in place that get it, and commit to "Radio" people doing local shows (Meaning people that just want to win in radio, not writers and TV poeple) then they have NO shot...

Besides, why listen to a neophyte metrosexual Jets fan and a trimming down Hardy to Mike's Laurel talk about what they saw on Monday Night Countdown and their local broadcast for oh, 5 minutes, when I can listen to guys that actually went to the friggin' game, talk to our players, know our team, and oh yeah... get paid to talk about OUR TOWN!

ESPN does talk all sports, and that's great. But when I want DALLAS sports, the worldwide leader isn't even on our radar, until later in the afternoon when most people aren't listening to the AARP show anyway. ;D

Um, for the record, the Ticket guys aren't really known for showing up to games and talking to the players... Haven't seen them in a locker room in years.. ;)

Maybe not talk show hosts, but they do have a presence. Somebody is getting tape. And that does not bother me. Focus on entertaining me with guy talk/sports talk. I laugh when I listen to The Ticket. When I listen to 103.3, I get bored....QUICKLY!!! I only check out when they talk baseball, because I HATE BASEBALL!!!!!!!

Pitt Dave...were you on the air? Is this Dave Shore? Miss you? Love your work with Mavs games....

They both are entertaining stations. Thankfully we live in a city that has two good sports stations. We have good choices. We could be stuck in Houston with 4 or 5 stations of nothing but garbage. I will say that over the past year or two I give ESPN more of a chance, especially Galloway and Co. I even like Mike and Mike and glad that Cowherd is coming. I tired of Norm's constant book hawking and Rhyner's Petty Theft downbeat references. Those two egos have worn thin.
