NRJ TV, one of the investment groups that has been buying TV stations with an eye toward selling them in the FCC's incentive auction next year, has landed another one.
It has purchased KFWD Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, from HIC Broadcast Inc. for $9.9 million, according to an FCC filing seeking approval of the deal.
While the deal is pending, the contract requires the seller to register for the auction prior to the Dec. 18 deadline and enter into a channel-share agreement if requested by NRJ.
KFWD operates on VHF ch. 9 and is a MundoMax affiliate.
For the auction, the FCC set an opening bid price for the station at $155 million, but actual sale prices for most stations are expected to be considerably less than the opening bids.
