Speculation: Axe to drop on Rock 105 format

Don't you think that it might be a little premature? Yes, Rock 105 has taken a big dump but they aren't totally dead yet.

I'm thinking that they'll install a new morning show and kick up their marketing and promotion and see what happens before they throw in the towel.

That would make two Cox stations under the microscope...Rock 105 and The Point.

I agree Scratcher....if any Cox Radio station is being considered for a format flip, it will be the Point. Interesting that Renda has introduced Sunny 94.1 to a light adult oldies format similiar to Cox Radio's "Dove" that has been # 1 (12+) in Tampa in what seems forever. Since Cool flipped to Eagle, I thought the next logical move for Cox was to switch the Point to either a "Dove" or an AC station similiar to the one they have in Miami (WFLC). The long-time AC favorite in Miami has and always will be as far as I'm concerned JP's WLYF but WFLC does attract 30 somethings female listeners. Flipping the Point to AC, such as WFLC type format would chip away at WEJZ and bring Cox Radio more female listeners. Not that Sunny 94.1 is a threat, but I'm thinking Cox would not want to introduce Dove in Jax to avoid format duplication. But then, we still do have 3 country music stations so who really knows.....

Who really knows what the corporate guys are thinking? It's a good possibility that they're not even sure about what they are going to do short-term, or long-term. One thing IS for sure, at this time next year the format landscape of Jacksonville will have changed dramatically.

I don't know that ANY high profile morning show will go on FYV...Cox is generally a music intensive company and what you will hear on Rock 105 is probably alot of music in place of L&T, and that's that, at least as long as the station remains semi-viable.
