The latest trends were posted last week and I think the writing has to be on the wall for WROO, which flipped to a "Man Up!" blend of active and classic rock over last summer.
It never performed well as classic rock The Road and has been in steady decline since the flip, 1.0 Spring 2015, .8 Summer 2015, .7 Fall 2015 and now a mere .5 in the Winter 1 trends.
What I don't get is that this signal is stronger and seems to have better coverage than other translators, like X98.5 and Chuck, from southern Greenville County all the way to the North Carolina border (yes, it came in clear as a bell outside of Hendersonville during a trip last year). X and Chuck have gone up and down but generally have been above a share with a worse signal.
What does iHeartRadio see in whatever it's trying to do with it? Classic Rock 101 isn't taking a hit. The Planet has gone down a bit, but not sure whether to attribute that to X or Man Up. Regardless, it seems ripe for a flip. It isn't protecting anything as it's Hot AC, My 102.5, is also struggling. No use to iHeart's country stations either.
Any thoughts on what they could do? Maybe both 102.5 and 104.9 could be in the offing for flips.
Outside of Entercom's Urban/Hip-Hop "The Block" coming on board last Fall, the GSP market has been fairly stagnant the last few years. Seems about time for some shaking up.
