As you know, CBS Radio has been transforming some FM stations in top markets into sports stations. Most recently, word is that they will be doing this in Pittsburgh. And there is also talk of them bringing their sports station in Chicago to FM, replacing "Fresh 105.9" there. Meanwhile, the "Fresh" station in Washington, D.C. is in dire straits (they already run an FM sports talker there).
As far as New York is concerned, it's not a matter of if CBS will bring WFAN to the FM dial, it's a matter of when - and which of their three FM stations will be sacrificed. "Fresh 102.7" would be the most likely of the stations to be replaced, if it gets that far. However, according to the recent ratings, Fresh is actually getting pretty reasonable numbers. It will be interesting to see how CBS goes forward with putting "The Fan" on FM in Market No. 1.
